About the Role
AECOM is seeking an experienced Architect - Building to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves leading the design development and management of building projects, ensuring architectural planning excellence, compliance with local regulations, and coordination across multidisciplinary teams. The position requires a combination of technical expertise and innovative thinking to deliver constructible solutions that meet client expectations and Saudi Arabia's building standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage design development for building projects from concept through detailed design and final implementation, adhering to Saudi Building Code and local authority guidelines.
- Review, coordinate, and approve architectural design deliverables at various stages, including concept, preliminary, detailed, and construction-ready designs.
- Ensure all designs comply with Saudi Arabia's building regulations, municipal requirements, and applicable international standards.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary design activities, including structural systems, MEP, fire safety, accessibility, and landscape integration.
- Analyze and provide technical input on design calculations, architectural drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Manage design interfaces between architectural, structural, and building systems to identify and eliminate clashes and design conflicts.
- Review and respond to authority design review comments and feedback, ensuring timely incorporation and formal closure.
- Liaise directly with municipal authorities, building departments, and relevant stakeholders during design development and approval processes.
- Ensure compliance with building safety standards, accessibility requirements, and sustainable design principles.
- Support the preparation and review of authority submissions, permits, and necessary approvals for building projects.
- Participate in design coordination meetings, technical workshops, and value engineering sessions to optimize project outcomes.
- Identify design risks and propose innovative, cost-effective, and constructible solutions that enhance project value.
- Provide comprehensive technical support during tender stages, including responding to queries, addenda, and design clarifications.
- Support construction teams by reviewing requests for information (RFIs), design changes, and technical queries during project execution.
- Mentor junior architects and design staff, fostering a collaborative environment and ensuring design deliverables meet quality and schedule standards.
- Maintain proper document control and ensure adherence to project Design Management Plans and quality assurance procedures.
- Contribute to the preparation of as-built documentation and design closeout materials upon project completion.
Qualifications and Experience
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in architectural design and project management.
- Demonstrated ability to lead design development and ensure compliance with building codes and regulations.
- Strong technical expertise in architectural planning and coordination across multidisciplinary teams.
