About the Baker Lead Role

Sheraton Hotels & Resorts is seeking a Baker Lead for a full-time position in Riyadh. This role involves the preparation of a variety of baked goods, requiring a blend of technical skill and attention to detail to ensure high-quality products. The position requires 2-5 years of relevant experience.

Core Responsibilities

The Baker Lead is responsible for the end-to-end preparation of breads and pastries. This includes the meticulous preparation of doughs and fillings, managing the proofing process, baking to perfection, and applying appropriate decoration. Daily tasks involve reviewing production sheets to understand the variety of items needed, preparing and cooking food according to established recipes, quality standards, and presentation guidelines. Safe and appropriate use of baking tools and equipment is essential, as is monitoring kitchen appliance and food temperatures, reporting any issues to management. The role also requires continuous monitoring of food quality and portion control throughout the shift.

Operational and Compliance Duties

Maintaining kitchen logs for food safety program compliance is a key responsibility. The Baker Lead will also communicate with the Chef regarding excess food items to aid in planning daily specials. Strict adherence to and enforcement of food safety handling policies and procedures, including personal hygiene, is mandatory. This role involves assisting management with employee lifecycle processes such as hiring, training, scheduling, performance evaluation, counseling, discipline, motivation, and coaching, acting as a role model for the team. Compliance with all company policies and procedures, including safety and security protocols, is required, with prompt reporting of accidents, injuries, or unsafe working conditions. Maintaining a clean and professional appearance, upholding confidentiality of proprietary information, and protecting company assets are also integral to the role.

Teamwork and Communication

Effective communication is vital, requiring the use of clear and professional language when speaking with others and answering telephones. The Baker Lead is expected to develop and maintain positive working relationships, supporting team members to achieve common goals. Sensitive issues should be handled with tact, respect, and confidentiality. Serving as a department role model or mentor is also part of the role's expectations, alongside consistently complying with quality expectations and standards.

Physical Requirements

This position involves physical tasks including moving, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance. The Baker Lead must be able to navigate sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces. Reaching overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping, is necessary. The role also requires standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods. Reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors may also be performed.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates must possess a Technical, Trade, or Vocational School Degree. A minimum of 2 years of related work experience is required. No supervisory experience is necessary for this role.
