About the Baker Lead Role

Sheraton Hotels & Resorts is seeking a Baker Lead for a full-time position in Riyadh. This role involves the preparation of a variety of baked goods, ensuring quality and adherence to standards. The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years of relevant experience.

Core Responsibilities

The Baker Lead is responsible for the end-to-end preparation of breads and pastries. This includes preparing doughs and fillings, managing proofing processes, baking, and applying appropriate decorations. Daily tasks involve reviewing production sheets to understand the variety of items needed, preparing food according to established recipes and quality standards, and maintaining kitchen logs for food safety compliance. The role also requires keeping the Chef informed of excess food items to facilitate daily specials planning.

Operational Duties

  • Safely and appropriately utilize baking and measuring tools, equipment, and appliances.
  • Follow and ensure compliance with food safety handling policies, procedures, and personal hygiene standards.
  • Check and ensure correct temperatures of kitchen appliances and food, reporting any issues to management.
  • Monitor the quality of prepared food and portion sizes served throughout the shift.

Team and Policy Adherence

This role includes assisting management with employee-related tasks such as hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluation, acting as a role model for the team. Adherence to all company policies and procedures, including safety and security protocols, is mandatory. Employees are expected to report accidents, injuries, and unsafe working conditions. Maintaining a clean and professional appearance, ensuring confidentiality of proprietary information, and protecting company assets are also key aspects of the role.

Qualifications and Physical Requirements

  • Technical, Trade, or Vocational School Degree.
  • A minimum of 2 years of related work experience.
  • No supervisory experience is required for this position.
  • Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance.
  • Capability to move over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces.
  • Ability to reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
  • Capacity to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods.

Work Environment and Communication

The Baker Lead will develop and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, supporting team goals. Sensitive issues should be handled with tact and confidentiality. Effective communication is essential, requiring the use of clear and professional language when speaking with others and answering telephones. This role may also involve performing other reasonable job duties as requested by supervisors.
