Cardiology Assistant Consultant

About the Role

King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz University Hospital in Riyadh is seeking a full-time Cardiology Assistant Consultant. This role involves providing comprehensive medical care to patients within the scope of the cardiology specialty and granted privileges, while also contributing to administrative, educational, and research initiatives at the hospital.

Key Responsibilities

The Assistant Consultant will contribute across clinical, administrative, and educational/research areas. Responsibilities include:

• Assisting Consultants in clinical work by providing patient care in accordance with the delineated scope of services and granted privileges.
• Delivering patient care in various settings, including outpatient clinics, inpatient wards, the emergency room, operation room, day unit, and intensive care units.
• Performing consultation services, follow-up care, procedures, and sharing in on-call duties as assigned.
• Practicing patient care based on scientific evidence and up-to-date best practices under consultant supervision.
• Adhering to KAAUH quality improvement initiatives and ensuring a safe healing environment, including compliance with hospital accreditation requirements.
• Empowering patients and their families to actively participate in their health and wellness.
• Supervising residents, contributing to their professional development, and providing performance feedback.

Administrative Contributions

The Assistant Consultant will undertake administrative duties as required, specifically in areas such as:

• Patient Care: Developing Clinical Management Guidelines, Clinical Pathways, and Evidence-Based Best Practices.
• Quality Assurance and Improvement: Participating in audits, peer reviews, and Morbidity & Mortality rounds.
• Supporting departmental and hospital development, which may include procurement requirements, medical staff recruitment, manpower planning, policy and procedure development, process improvement, and committee membership.

Education and Research Engagement

The role involves active participation in educational and research activities, including:

• Participating in general undergraduate and postgraduate teaching activities.
• Providing regular teaching to all team members appropriate to their level.
• Engaging in departmental educational activities such as Grand Rounds, Journal Club, and daily morning meetings.
• Utilizing continuing professional development events at KAAUH and maintaining CME recertification requirements.
• Ensuring foundational knowledge for conducting scientific research.
• Participating in departmental and hospital research activities with a goal of scientific publications.
