Role Overview: Chief Engineer (Pre Opening)

Hilton is seeking a Chief Engineer (Pre Opening) to establish and lead the engineering department for a new property in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves overseeing all aspects of the hotel's physical building and systems maintenance, ensuring operational readiness and delivering a high standard of guest experience from the initial pre-opening phase.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead the recruitment, training, supervision, and mentorship of the engineering team, conducting performance evaluations and fostering professional development.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the physical building, mechanical systems, electrical systems, HVAC, and life safety systems, coordinating inspections and upholding safety and compliance standards.
  • Manage daily maintenance operations, prioritize tasks, and verify completion through the property maintenance management system, ensuring timely resolution of service requests, guest concerns, and emergencies.
  • Support property improvement projects, including scheduling, budgeting, contractor bidding, and securing necessary licensing and permitting, while ensuring regulatory compliance.

Strategic and Operational Management

The Chief Engineer will develop and oversee property-wide energy conservation programs to reduce utility costs. This role also involves monitoring departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), such as equipment upkeep, audit results, and team productivity, and implementing actions to improve performance. Collaboration with the broader hotel leadership team is required for overseeing evacuation procedures, duty manager coverage, and other safety protocols as needed.

Required Experience

Candidates should possess 5-10 years of experience in engineering leadership, preferably within the hospitality sector or a similar large-scale facility. The role requires strong technical expertise in building systems, proven leadership abilities to develop and manage a team, and a comprehensive understanding of safety and compliance standards. Experience with pre-opening phases of a property is highly advantageous.
