About the Role

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Commercial Director to join its team in Riyadh, KSA. This full-time role involves leading and overseeing the commercial management of AtkinsRéalis' project portfolio in Saudi Arabia. The Commercial Director will ensure project delivery aligns with contractual obligations, financial targets, and internal governance standards, requiring a blend of commercial acumen, leadership, and a deep understanding of engineering and consultancy services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret AtkinsRéalis' rights and responsibilities across its project portfolio in KSA.
  • Support Project Directors in delivering projects according to contractual arrangements and achieving required commercial outcomes, including contracted profit margins and agreed financial objectives.
  • Coordinate commercial appointments for services provided by all parties, including other Atkins Business Sectors and sub-consultants.
  • Develop and manage commercial administration, monitoring, and change control systems in compliance with Atkins' internal business processes, including risk and variation registers.
  • Enhance commercial understanding and competence among Project Management and Design delivery staff in KSA.
  • Support project-based commercial staff within live projects in the country.
  • Escalate and report on claims made against Atkins' Professional Indemnity insurance or similar circumstances.
  • Conduct commercial reviews and audits of live projects in the country.
  • Adhere to AtkinsRéalis' internal Business Management System (BMS) and other processes.
  • Monitor compliance of the Service Delivery Process throughout the project delivery phase and address queries.
  • Review monthly financial reports and actions related to the Risk Register and project contingency.
  • Influence improved risk management to convert contingency to margin for live projects.
  • Liaise with finance and project teams on debt management to convert debt provisions to P&L profit.
  • Provide guidance to project teams to ensure consistent billing in line with contractual arrangements for positive cash flow.
  • Promote early warnings of risks to projects' financial health.

Qualifications and Experience

  • BEng/BSc in an appropriate engineering discipline or Quantity Surveying, or equivalent, from a recognized Western university.
  • Professional Membership (MRICS, MCIOB, MCIPS, MCIArb).
  • Over 15 years of relevant experience with a global engineering or cost consulting firm.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in contracts and sub-contracts: preparation, review, and evaluation.
  • Knowledge of the design process within the project lifecycle.
  • Understanding of site operations processes.
  • Proficiency in contract and commercial correspondence.
  • Ability to prepare financial models and pricing proposals.
  • Experience in project planning, program, and delay claim preparation and evaluation.
  • Management of variations and claims processes, including claims preparation.
  • Senior-level commercial experience on at least one major design and construct project.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Experience with risk management processes and practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop successful client relationships.
  • Prior experience in the Middle East.
