About the Role: Consultant - Family Medicine (Diabetology)
Bupa Arabia is seeking a Consultant - Family Medicine with a specialized focus on Diabetology to join our team in Riyadh. This full-time position requires 2-5 years of relevant experience and involves delivering comprehensive medical care to adult patients. The role emphasizes leading the diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of diabetes and related metabolic disorders, alongside a broad spectrum of acute and chronic medical conditions, across both in-person clinic and telemedicine settings.
Patient Care and Clinical Management
- Deliver comprehensive care for patients through in-person clinic visits and virtual assessments, covering diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up for diabetes, metabolic disorders, and other medical conditions.
- Conduct thorough clinical evaluations, including medical history, physical or virtual assessment, medication review, diabetes risk assessment, and interpretation of diagnostic findings.
- Determine when a patient's condition requires an in-person visit versus virtual management, facilitating smooth transitions between the two.
- Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based management plans, focusing on glycemic optimization, medication, lifestyle modification, and preventive care.
- Manage patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes, prediabetes, obesity, and other metabolic conditions, while preventing and managing related complications.
- Utilize digital health technologies, such as remote patient monitoring and telemedicine platforms, alongside standard in-clinic systems for high-quality care and accurate documentation.
Quality Assurance and Digital Health Proficiency
- Communicate effectively with patients and families, providing clear explanations of diagnoses, treatment options, and follow-up care in both in-person and virtual settings.
- Adhere to all relevant medical regulations, ethical guidelines, and quality assurance standards for both in-clinic and telehealth practices.
- Maintain accurate and complete patient records in accordance with HIPAA-equivalent regulations, utilizing both physical and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Ensure proficiency in the clinic's EHR system and designated telehealth platforms, including video conferencing and secure messaging.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, research activities, and clinical audits to enhance patient care and outcomes.
Professional Development and Team Collaboration
- Continuously enhance professional knowledge and skills in family medicine with a focus on diabetology, covering both in-person and telehealth best practices.
- Attend relevant conferences, workshops, and online courses to stay updated on advancements in diabetology and telehealth technology.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams, including endocrinologists, dietitians, and pharmacists, to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care.
- Facilitate effective communication among team members regarding patient status and needs, regardless of the consultation channel.
- Mentor junior staff and provide training on clinical protocols for both in-person and telehealth delivery.
Patient Safety and Satisfaction
- Maintain compliance with all patient safety standards and ensure patient safety across both in-person and virtual clinical interactions.
- Report any patient safety risks or issues to the appropriate staff in the quality department.
- Practice safe medicine, explaining medications, possible side effects, and proper use to prevent patient harm.
- Ensure satisfactory patient consultations through clear communication, comprehensive history taking, empathy, and thorough explanation of diagnosis and management plans.
- Monitor patient feedback and address concerns promptly, implementing safety protocols to minimize risks during consultations.
Experience Requirements
- A minimum of 2 to 5 years of experience in Family Medicine, with a demonstrated focus on Diabetology.
