About the Internship

AWS EMEA SARL (Saudi Arabia Branch) is offering a Data Center Technician Internship in Riyadh. This internship is structured as a potential pathway to full-time employment, with strong-performing interns considered for a full-time Data Center Technician position based on available roles and business needs. The role involves working within the Operations team to maintain and upkeep data center infrastructure.

Role Overview

As a Data Center Technician Intern, you will contribute to the operations of Amazon's large-scale, high-density data centers. This position focuses on hardware and network diagnostics, followed by physical repair. You will engage in both independent tasks and team-based collaboration, requiring strong prioritization, organizational skills, effective communication, and the ability to react quickly to operational needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide infrastructure-related support to internal teams, resolving tickets concerning hardware (*, motherboards, RAM, CPUs, GPUs) and networking (*, link-down events, optics replacements, switch replacements).
• Troubleshoot server hardware alongside experienced AWS technicians.
• Meet Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for assigned trouble tickets.
• Shadow AWS technicians during network troubleshooting to develop diagnostic skills.
• Replace media (Solid State Drives and Hard Disk Drives) in accordance with AWS Data Tech guidance.
• Perform regular server hardware repairs (drives, motherboards, and other components) under the guidance of experienced technicians.
• Install equipment, create documentation, innovate solutions, and resolve complex problems within the data center environment.
• Interact with third-party vendors and contractors working on site.

Internship Structure and Requirements

This is a full-time internship, requiring 40 hours per week for 3 consecutive months, starting in summer 2027. Interns are required to report to work on-site daily, typically following a Sunday through Thursday day schedule. Upon potential transition to a full-time Data Center Technician position, candidates should be prepared for day, evening, or weekend shifts and on-call rotations.

About the Team

The AWS Infrastructure Services team is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. This team maintains all AWS data centers, including servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment, ensuring continuous access to services for customers. You will join a diverse team of engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers, collaborating across AWS to uphold high standards for safety and security while providing scalable infrastructure.
