About the Role
Duncan & Ross is seeking a highly experienced Data Governance Specialist to join our team in Riyadh. This full-time role is central to establishing and managing robust data governance frameworks, processes, and operating models across the organization.
Role Purpose
The primary objective of this position is to ensure that organizational data is properly owned, classified, governed, protected, and maintained. The specialist will play a critical role in defining and implementing strategies that uphold data integrity and compliance throughout the company.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and implement data governance frameworks, policies, standards, and processes.
- Establish data ownership and stewardship models across business and technology teams.
- Define standards for data classification, quality, metadata, and data lineage.
- Establish processes for data access, sharing, retention, and lifecycle management.
- Support data privacy, security, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
- Define and monitor data quality rules, controls, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Develop and maintain data governance operating models, including roles, responsibilities, and workflows.
- Collaborate with Data Architects, Business Analysts, IT, Security, Risk, and Compliance teams.
- Identify data governance gaps and recommend improvements.
- Support the implementation and adoption of enterprise data governance and cataloguing tools.
- Conduct governance workshops and promote data governance awareness across the organization.
Qualifications and Experience
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, or a related field.
- Strong experience with data ownership, stewardship, classification, quality, and lineage.
- Demonstrated experience in developing data governance frameworks and operating models.
- Familiarity with data governance standards, policies, and best practices.
- Experience with data cataloguing, metadata, and lineage tools is preferred.
Essential Skills and Knowledge
- Good understanding of data privacy, security, access, sharing, and retention principles.
- Strong analytical skills for identifying data governance gaps and recommending solutions.
- Excellent documentation skills for creating clear policies and frameworks.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills to collaborate across various teams.
