The Role: Deputy Resident Engineer (Civil)

SYSTRA's Mobility & Railway Business Unit is expanding its operations with new metro projects. We are seeking an experienced Deputy Resident Engineer (Civil) to join our project team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role requires 5-10 years of proven experience in civil engineering and construction management, contributing to the delivery of complex mobility solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers and inspectors across civil, mechanical, electrical, and architectural disciplines.
  • Monitor and coordinate contractor activities within the assigned rail project area to ensure safe and efficient project delivery.
  • Develop discipline-specific construction schedules and monitor progress against project milestones.
  • Provide schedule updates, progress assessments, and reporting to the Construction Manager.
  • Monitor material procurement, delivery, and availability to maintain construction schedules.
  • Verify that delivered materials comply with project specifications, quality requirements, and industry standards.
  • Maintain first-level quality assurance oversight to ensure all installation works adhere to approved plans and specifications.
  • Supervise construction engineering activities and provide technical expertise across relevant construction disciplines.
  • Ensure that inspections and testing activities are conducted, witnessed, documented, and completed according to approved procedures.
  • Collaborate with construction management teams to identify and mitigate safety, environmental, and operational risks.
  • Promote safe work practices and ensure compliance with site-specific safety requirements and industry standards.
  • Coordinate with design engineering teams to support construction activities and resolve technical issues.
  • Review and interpret design drawings and specifications to ensure work execution aligns with the latest approved revisions.
  • Provide technical solutions to engineering and construction challenges and coordinate implementation with project stakeholders.
  • Maintain project records, progress reports, back-charge documentation, and other project controls documentation.
  • Coordinate and organize project documentation for final handover and project closeout activities.
  • Interface with clients, contractors, and senior management to support successful project execution.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • 5-10 years of experience in civil engineering and construction management.
  • Proven experience leading and managing multidisciplinary engineering and construction teams.
  • Experience with construction materials testing and quality assurance, including soil, concrete, grout, dewatering, and load testing activities.
  • Strong understanding of construction planning, material delivery, staging, scheduling, and site coordination.
  • Knowledge of construction quality, safety, and compliance requirements.

Location and Work Type

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, within SYSTRA's project teams.
