About Mirai

Mirai, a Scopely company and part of Savvy Games Group, operates as a video game support studio based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The studio focuses on developing industry-defining interactive entertainment experiences and plays a critical role in growing the gaming ecosystem across the MENA region.

Role Overview

Mirai is seeking a Director of AI to join its leadership team in Riyadh. This full-time role focuses on product and team development, combining local and global AI strategy with production leadership. The Director of AI will lead the production roadmap and integration of AI solutions across various Scopely business units and studio operations teams, while also building local capabilities and driving innovation within the company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the end-to-end development of automation and AI-enabled software solutions for internal clients and use cases.
  • Support the design and implementation of AI strategy across production pipelines, ensuring alignment between product vision, technical feasibility, and business goals.
  • Collaborate with global teams to integrate best practices and maintain quality, ensuring scalable and agile production processes leveraging AI.
  • Identify high-impact AI use cases across development, operations, and player experience in collaboration with the Mirai CEO.
  • Drive the adoption of AI tools across Central Teams, Engineering, QA, Marketing, Business Development, and Analytics.
  • Ensure responsible AI usage, governance, compliance, risk management, and adherence to ethical standards.
  • Build and mentor high-performing multidisciplinary teams focused on AI solution creation, integration, and adoption at scale.
  • Develop local AI and technical talent in KSA and MENA, growing the department into a world-class center of excellence through internship, mentorship, and training programs.
  • Foster a culture of learning, innovation, and inclusion within the team.
  • Build partnerships with global studios, academia, and AI technology providers, and drive community initiatives including AI jams and participation in local industry events.
  • Contribute to the long-term strategy, operational excellence, and culture of Mirai Studio, defining department OKRs and managing department budgets.
  • Collaborate with the Mirai CEO to align AI and production strategy with business objectives, both locally for Mirai and globally for internal clients.
  • Support executive decision-making with data and insights, and act as a Studio Expert to support the adoption of AI solutions and mindset across Mirai Studio.

Candidate Requirements

  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in software development and AI-related roles.
  • At least 7 years of experience in senior leadership or executive positions, including leading a multidisciplinary department comprising AI Engineers, Project Managers, and Product Managers.
  • Demonstrated experience in shaping AI strategy across production pipelines and leading cross-functional AI adoption within engineering and product teams.
  • Strong background in responsible AI governance, compliance, risk management, and ethics.
  • Experience defining Department Objectives and Key Results (OKRs).
  • Proven ability to work directly with CEOs or CTOs and to partner with global teams and external institutions such as studios, academia, or AI technology providers.
  • Experience working in the MENA region is considered an advantage.

Work Environment and Reporting

This full-time position is based in Riyadh and reports directly to the CEO. The role is both strategic and hands-on, requiring close collaboration with Scopely's global engineering teams, as well as internal and global stakeholders. The Director of AI will lead a local department consisting of Engineers, Project Managers, and Product Managers.
