About the Role

Solution Leaders Fayez Engineering is seeking a Director of Design Projects Management to join our team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time leadership position requires over 10 years of experience and holds company-wide responsibility for the leadership, direction, and performance of all Project Management activities specifically for design projects.

Role Purpose and Scope

As a key member of the Solution Leaders Fayez Engineering management team, the Director will lead, monitor, and manage all Project Managers (PMs) and Design Managers (DMs) across the organization. The primary objective is to establish unified standards, resourcing, and governance to ensure design project delivery consistently meets high-quality standards, remains on schedule, and stays within budget.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Project Management Department for design projects, setting departmental goals aligned with strategic objectives.
• Directly supervise, coach, and develop Project Managers and Design Managers, ensuring clear allocation of responsibilities and accountability.
• Provide oversight and direction on the planning, execution, monitoring, and closeout of design projects, ensuring delivery on schedule, within budget, and according to contractual scope and quality.
• Review and approve key project management deliverables, including project plans, design programs, resource plans, and risk registers.
• Monitor project performance through regular reviews, intervening proactively to resolve delays and escalating critical risks and issues to executive management.
• Oversee change management processes for design projects, ensuring variations, claims, and contractual changes are properly identified, documented, and controlled.
• Ensure consistent adherence to Project Management procedures, supporting ISO 9001:2015 compliance and continuous process improvement.
• Lead PMs and DMs in managing client expectations, resolving escalated issues, and ensuring high levels of client satisfaction.
• Oversee project budgets, fee utilization, and profitability across the design project portfolio.
• Set and enforce unified project management standards, practices, and reporting formats company-wide for design projects.
• Drive organization-wide process improvement initiatives for project management, institutionalizing lessons learned across the company.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in project management, with a significant focus on design projects.
• Proven leadership experience in managing project management teams and departmental operations.
• Demonstrated ability to establish and enforce project management standards, governance, and processes across an organization.
• Strong understanding of project financial management, contract administration, and commercial negotiations.

Performance Metrics

Success in this role will be measured by key performance indicators including:

• On-time delivery rate of design projects against approved schedules.
• Project budget and fee performance (planned vs. actual cost and profitability).
• Client satisfaction scores for projects under departmental oversight.
• Timely closure of project risks, issues, and change requests.
