About the Role

Hikma Pharmaceuticals is seeking a Health & Safety Engineer to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive Health & Safety policies, procedures, and programs to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, thorough risk assessments, and detailed safety audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance.
  • Identify workplace hazards and recommend effective corrective and preventive actions to mitigate risks.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all local HSE laws, relevant international standards, and company-specific requirements.
  • Investigate all incidents, accidents, and near-misses, preparing detailed reports and conducting root cause analyses to prevent recurrence.
  • Deliver HSE training and awareness sessions to employees and contractors to foster a strong safety culture.
  • Monitor key safety performance metrics and prepare periodic reports to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
  • Coordinate the development and execution of emergency response plans and conduct regular drills to ensure preparedness.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities and external auditors as required.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, specifically in Industrial, Mechanical, Environmental, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in Health & Safety roles, with a preference for experience within the pharmaceutical sector or a closely related industry.
  • Strong and up-to-date knowledge of HSE regulations, industry standards, and best practices.
  • Proven experience in conducting risk assessments, performing incident investigations, and executing safety audits.
  • Proficiency in both Arabic and English languages is essential for effective communication.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and training abilities.
  • A keen attention to detail and a proactive mindset.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and experience with reporting tools for data analysis and presentation.

Preferred Certifications

Candidates holding recognized Health & Safety certifications such as NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) or equivalent, IOSH Managing Safely (minimum), and OSHA certifications / OSHA 30-hour are highly preferred. Any additional relevant certifications are considered a plus.
