About the Role
Parsons Corporation is seeking a Saudi National Environmental Engineer to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role is central to ensuring environmental compliance across various construction activities within Parsons' projects.
Role Context and Purpose
The Environmental Engineer will coordinate the environmental interface with various contractors on site. A primary responsibility is to ensure all construction activities adhere to the Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP). This includes reviewing new work sites for CEMP compliance, assessing contractor environmental documentation for best practices, and overseeing sample collection and result review. The role requires significant on-site presence to observe conditions and contractor activities, focusing on sensitive environmental issues such as dust control, site cleanliness, vehicle maintenance facilities, and protection of local flora and fauna.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify compliance with the Client’s CEMP and review/approve environmental documentation.
- Conduct field verification to ensure adherence to environmental documentation.
- Ensure the implementation of environmental safeguards and management measures from the CEMP across the site.
- Assist the Senior Environment Manager in preparing documentation and implementing the CEMP.
- Perform daily site walkovers to monitor and record site compliance, including air quality and noise conditions.
- Conduct on-site monitoring, oversee sample collection, and review results.
- Report all environmental issues, observations, and non-conformances to the Environment Manager.
- Monitor the environmental performance of workers, including subcontractors, on site.
- Communicate environmental instructions or information from the CEMP or the Environmental Manager to site staff.
- Collaborate on the collection of data and evidence for contractors’ monthly environmental reports and logs.
- Participate in meetings, document discussions, produce minutes, and issue them as required.
- Undertake environmental toolbox talks and inductions to raise awareness of CEMP requirements and site-specific environmental risks.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related construction field.
- A minimum of 5 to 10 years of relevant professional experience.
Required Certifications
- Certified Practitioner or Associate Practitioner status with an internationally recognized body.
- LEED AP accreditation.
- ISO 14001 (Environmental Management Systems) certification.
Reporting Structure
This position reports directly to the Parsons program Senior Environmental Manager.
