ESS Delivery Engineer

About the Role

CATL is seeking an ESS Delivery Engineer to join their team in Riyadh. This full-time role involves participating in the commissioning, project delivery, and acceptance of large-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. The position requires 5-10 years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in the commissioning, project delivery, and acceptance phases of large-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects.
• Perform commissioning, troubleshooting, and defect resolution for battery containers/cabinets, covering systems such as Fire Suppression System (FSS), Liquid Cooling System (HVAC/TMS), DC Circuits (up to 1500V DC), Auxiliary AC Circuits (220V/400V AC), and BMS Communication Systems.
• Assist with the commissioning of PCS (Power Conversion System) and EMS (Energy Management System), applying a basic understanding of their operating principles.
• Support on-site issue analysis, fault diagnosis, corrective actions, and issue closure in collaboration with the project team.
• Participate in Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), grid connection testing, and overall project acceptance activities.
• Support customer training sessions focused on system operation, maintenance, and product usage.
• Track commissioning issues through to resolution and ensure projects are delivered according to established schedules.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, Quality, After-Sales Service, and Project Management, to efficiently resolve site issues.
• Comply with EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) requirements and ensure the safe execution of all commissioning activities.

Required Experience and Qualifications

• 5-10 years of experience in a relevant field.
• Experience in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), photovoltaic (PV), or wind power projects.
• Low-voltage and/or high-voltage electrical certification, or equivalent electrical qualifications.
• Experience working on international projects or in a multicultural environment.

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The role involves working within a project-focused environment, collaborating with various internal and external stakeholders.
