The Role of Senior BESS Engineer

DNV is seeking a Senior BESS Engineer to join its Southern Europe, Middle East, Latin America, and Africa (SEMELA) renewable department. This full-time position is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and reports to the Renewables Team Lead. The role involves working with diverse customers and colleagues, focusing on energy storage projects and contributing to other energy technology initiatives. The successful candidate will have 2-5 years of experience and will play a dual role in project delivery and driving bidding processes for energy storage opportunities in Iberia, serving as the primary contact for customers with energy storage projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute and manage energy storage advisory projects, including technology review, technical due diligence, conceptual design, and technical specification development and review.
• Support in IPP, procurement, EPC/O&M contract review, PPA review, LTSA review, and performance guarantees.
• Conduct and manage design reviews (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, HVAC), construction progress monitoring, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), and testing and commissioning.
• Support and conduct energy yield assessments for BESS technologies, considering augmentation and degradation, using DNV modeling tools.
• Support the development and maintenance of services and products related to Energy Storage, including report writing, presentations, and courses.
• Provide technical training to the Renewables Section in MEA regarding Energy Storage.
• Expand external networks and identify, drive, and facilitate sales and market-led opportunities for energy storage, such as generating leads, developing quality proposals, and closing deals in collaboration with Market Area Managers.
• Analyze new business opportunities, gather market intelligence, and ensure knowledge distribution among relevant colleagues.
• Achieve sales targets agreed upon with the ME Renewables Team Lead.
• Build an internal network to gain and share knowledge and opportunities.

Work Environment and Travel

The majority of work will be desk-based. However, national and international travel for site and customer visits will be required periodically, estimated at 5% to 20% of the time, depending on project involvement.
