External Manager Selection Professional

About the Role

The Public Investment Fund (PIF) is seeking an External Manager Selection Professional to join its International Investments team in Riyadh. This full-time role involves identifying, evaluating, selecting, and continuously monitoring external investment managers across various asset strategies, including public equity, fixed income, and alternatives. The professional will conduct comprehensive qualitative and quantitative research, along with institutional due diligence, to ensure managers meet PIF’s investment, operational, and governance standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and screen prospective external managers based on investment objectives, mandate specifications, and portfolio requirements across public equity, fixed income, and/or alternative strategies.
• Contribute to qualitative research, covering investment philosophy, process, portfolio construction, research capabilities, team stability, ownership structure, and organizational alignment.
• Contribute to quantitative analysis of performance history, attribution, risk-adjusted returns, portfolio exposures, and consistency across various market environments.
• Conduct institutional investment due diligence, including manager meetings, site visits, and discussions with investment teams and senior leadership.
• Support investment execution due diligence, reviewing legal, tax, operational, compliance, and other implementation considerations, in collaboration with internal and external specialists.
• Monitor existing managers for performance, organizational changes, risk exposures, and mandate adherence.
• Support manager terminations, replacements, and transitions as needed.
• Prepare investment proposals, recommendations, and memos.
• Represent PIF International Investments at conferences and industry events related to international public markets.
• Prepare presentations and updates on International Public Investments proposals and performance for PIF Committees and Executive Management, and contribute to internal update reports for the PIF Board and related committees or other entities.

Operational and Compliance Contributions

• Implement operational excellence initiatives and propose system, process, and practice improvements, aligning with international leading practices to enhance organizational effectiveness and business performance.
• Support the development of policies, systems, processes, procedures, and controls, or propose enhancements, ensuring adherence to relevant compliance, risk, audit, cybersecurity, and regulatory requirements.

Required Experience

Candidates should possess 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in external manager selection or a related investment field.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, within the International Investments team of the Public Investment Fund.
