The Role of a Field Service Technician

Rapiscan Systems is seeking a Field Service Technician (FST) to join its team in Qiddiya City, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves providing Level 1 and Level 2 technical field support for advanced cargo scanning systems. The Field Service Technician will deliver customer service by diagnosing, troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing complex Cargo X-Ray equipment, while also assisting Level 3 Field Service Engineers (FSE) with daily operational tasks. The position requires a confident communicator capable of building relationships with end users and providing training on system operation and maintenance, covering hardware, software, PCs, and both wired and wireless networking.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform Level 1 and Level 2 maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Cargo Vehicle Inspection (CVI) systems and subsystems, including mechanical, electrical, and software components, as directed by the Field Service Engineer (FSE).
  • Identify, isolate, and resolve technical issues across CVI systems through both proactive and reactive maintenance tasks, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal system performance.
  • Provide clear and concise oral and written reports to escalate complex technical issues (Level 3) to engineering teams or site engineers, facilitating accurate and timely resolution.
  • Assist installation teams during system deployment phases, including setup, configuration, and initial testing of CVI systems.
  • Complete all required technical documentation, such as daily and weekly service reports and system logs, and accurately input service data into internal databases and reporting tools.
  • Adhere to all company, customer, and regulatory safety standards and protocols while working on-site.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Ability to work independently in harsh and remote environments.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team.
  • Previous experience in Field Service Delivery is advantageous; however, full training will be provided for the suitable candidate.
