BAE Systems Saudi Arabia is seeking a GIS Specialist to join our team in Riyadh. This full-time position involves supporting critical defense systems within the Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF).

The GIS Specialist Role

The GIS Specialist will be responsible to the Airforce Systems Directorate for providing and supporting RSAF systems. This includes collecting and maintaining a military GIS database, which is essential for RSAF units such as Simulators Systems, Mission Planning Systems, and flying units at airbases for various aircraft.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare specialized maps, drawings, charts, diagrams, presentations, and reports related to data processing workflow, project status, or planning, as specified by the RSAF directorate, utilizing GIS and computer-aided software.
• Explore new GIS technologies and equipment for the department; develop and maintain procedure manuals, metadata, specifications, tools, utilities, and other continuity documentation to improve database processing efficiency and effectiveness.
• Process, manipulate, analyze, enhance, and convert all types of data to conform to military standards and other system requirements.
• Support project planning activities and ensure alignment with the Directorate’s overall strategy and objectives.
• Build visual, radar, IR, and other specific databases using RSAF DBGS equipment for various fighter aircraft, intended for use in simulators, mission planning systems, or other required systems specified by the Air Systems directorate.
• Attend meetings and actively contribute to technical issues related to the job field.
• Support the RSAF Airforce Systems Directorate in projects with a common relation to GIS, Navigation, Simulators Visual Data Base, Mission Planning, and Air Systems.
• Troubleshoot computer hardware and software problems.
• Investigate, propose, and coordinate solutions to overcome system problems highlighted by flying squadron reports or calls.
• Write reports to the head of the team and/or the head of the department regarding workflow, project status, and any other required reports specified by the Airforce Systems Directorate.
• Maintain systems, hardware, and software based on common knowledge of computer systems.

Required Skills and Experience

Candidates should possess 0-1 years of relevant experience and demonstrate the following:

• Knowledge of mapping, satellite imagery, and survey principles is preferable.
• Experience with military mapping data formats such as CADRG, ASRP, CIB, DTED, DFAD, VMAP, and satellite imagery.
• Ability to draw and print various maps and data flowcharts.
