About the Global Banking Markets Software Engineer Role

Goldman Sachs is seeking a Global Banking Markets Software Engineer Equity Electronic Trading Vice President to join our team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role requires 5-10 years of experience and involves providing business and technical support for the equity electronic trading stack, serving as the primary interface with the trading desk.

Our Electronic Trading Environment

Our team is central to electronic trading, managing systems that process billions of dollars in trades daily. We operate within the Production Engineering function, with the Frontline support team proactively and reactively addressing operational risk. We are responsible for the monitoring and support of Algorithmic, Smart Routing, Order Management, and MTF systems. Our core value is building strong relationships with clients, including asset managers, hedge funds, broker dealers, and systematic clients, assisting them with financial product transactions, funding, and risk management.

Core Responsibilities

• Provide direct business and technical support to the trading desk.
• Own and manage the production environment.
• Serve as the first level of support for issues.
• Demonstrate system health through monitoring, alerting provisioning, and capacity management.
• Automate repetitive maintenance and troubleshooting tasks.
• Communicate and document production changes, contributing to the improvement of change management processes and tooling.
• Drive continuous improvement through incident follow-ups and root cause analysis.
• Challenge other teams to enhance production-related practices.
• Coordinate and execute emergency drills.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• 5-10 years of experience, with a proven background in running a production plant within financial markets.
• Understanding of order management and downstream processes.
• Strong communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work directly with a demanding user base and manage their needs effectively.
• Strong desire and ability to understand the business context.
• Ability to triage and prioritize incoming requests efficiently.
• Hands-on experience working in large-scale Unix/Linux environments.
• Experience using and maintaining application monitoring, performance, and capacity management tools in large-scale systems.
• Proficiency in writing SQL queries.
• Scripting experience in Python, Bash, or similar languages.

Preferred Skills and Background

• Experience working in equities cash markets and trading systems.
• Familiarity with C++, Python, Java, or Javascript development.
