About the Role

*******, Saudi Arabia's leading event ticketing and experience booking platform, is seeking a Head of Data to join its team in Riyadh. This full-time position involves owning the company's data function end-to-end, encompassing strategy, team leadership, platform management, and delivery. The primary objective is to transform first-party data into reliable decisions and a monetizable asset within a regulated environment, ensuring data integrity and lawful usage.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and document webook's data strategy and a phased, costed roadmap within 60 days, aligning initiatives with measurable business outcomes.
• Define the target operating model for the data function (engineering, analytics, governance) and lead its sequential build-out.
• Lead, assess, and strengthen the existing data team, setting performance standards, developing talent, and fostering an engaged, high-performing culture.
• Oversee the data platform direction, making pragmatic build/buy and managed/self-host decisions across modern data stack components (warehouse/lakehouse, transformation, orchestration, BI, serving).
• Ensure reliable, tested, and observable data pipelines, maintaining accuracy of client-facing dashboards and establishing FinOps discipline for platform budget control.
• Establish a single source of truth, a governed metrics layer, and raise the bar on analytical quality for internal decisions and client insights.
• Build capabilities for shipping data products, including embedded client analytics and benchmarking, and partner with product/commercial teams to define paid data/insight products.
• Ensure data handling compliance with PDPL, GDPR, and NCA requirements, establishing data catalog, quality standards, and a lawful-basis framework for data monetization.
• Drive the path from internal analytics to productized data, working with commercial leadership to size, package, and price data/insight products.
• Act as a trusted data partner to the executive team, translating technical work into commercial language, and fostering a data-literate culture across the organization.

Required Qualifications

• Over 10 years of experience in data, with at least 3-5 years in a senior data leadership role (Head of Data / Director) within a technology, SaaS, or consumer-platform company.
• Proven track record in building and leading high-performing data teams across engineering, analytics, and governance.
• Deep, hands-on understanding of modern data platforms and the modern data stack (warehouses/lakehouses, transformation (dbt), orchestration, BI, serving), with experience in pragmatic build/buy and managed/self-host decisions.
• Experience with both open-source platforms (*, ClickHouse, Superset) and major managed platforms (*, BigQuery, Snowflake, Databricks).
• Strong command of data engineering and analytics practices, including pipelines, dimensional modeling, semantic/metrics layers, data quality, and observability.
• Demonstrated ability to translate data into business value, including experience with data products or monetization.
• Working knowledge of data governance and privacy in a regulated environment (PDPL / GDPR experience is a strong advantage).
• Commercial fluency, capable of translating technical work into business and board-level language.
• A track record of delivering against deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience monetizing data or building externally sold data products.
• Familiarity with KSA and EU regulatory contexts (PDPL, GDPR, NCA ECC).
• Experience in making data "AI-ready" and enabling ML/analytics at scale.
• FinOps / cloud cost-management experience.
• Relevant qualifications in data, computer science, or a related field; cloud or platform certifications (GCP / AWS / Azure, Snowflake, Databricks).
• Experience in events, ticketing, e-commerce, or marketplace businesses.
