Role Overview
Johnson & Johnson MedTech is seeking a Health Economics & Market Access (HEMA) Manager to join the team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role requires 2-5 years of relevant experience and is central to ensuring market access for the Surgery portfolio. The HEMA Manager will lead health economics and market access activities, developing and executing robust strategies to support funding and procedural adoption in an evolving healthcare landscape.
Context of the Role
The HEMA function is critical to the market access strategy, particularly with new procurement decision-making processes and an increasing focus on value-based healthcare. This requires evidence from clinical studies and derived economic value from technologies and solutions. The purpose of this role is to equip the organization with the necessary capabilities and convey a meaningful value-based message to customers, thereby assisting in market development and ensuring the success of the Surgery portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute market access strategies for new technologies and existing portfolios.
- Support the development of HEMA tools, translating complex messages into simple statements for the sales force.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including payers, healthcare professionals, and governmental bodies.
- Collaborate with marketing, clinical, and sales teams to align market access activities with overall business objectives.
- Provide input into the evidence generation strategy for new product development and identify local opportunities for health economic evidence generation.
- Accountable for health economic input into novel local commercial initiatives requiring value substantiation, including value-based procurement and agreements.
- Support the adaptation and local approval of regionally developed HEMA tools.
- Partner with sales and marketing to deliver specialist health economic and reimbursement tools to customers, involving field time.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Solid understanding of the principles of Health Technology Assessment (HTA) and health economics.
- Strong track record of successful engagement with clinical and non-clinical stakeholders.
- Good understanding of processes within healthcare systems and payer bodies.
- Demonstrated ability to lead through influence and partner effectively with commercial teams in a cross-functional matrix environment.
- Strong project management orientation with the ability to prioritize and manage complex projects to completion.
- Ability to synthesize clinical and health economic evidence into messages easily understood by non-clinical stakeholders.
- Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional matrix to successfully deliver objectives on time and within budget.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively individually and in a team environment.
- Strong internal and external communication skills, with excellent behavioral skills and communication style.
Desirable Skills and Attributes
- Experience of engagement with payers.
- Familiarity with healthcare systems database sources.
- Track record of overcoming complex market access challenges.
- Experience of strategic planning aligned with priority projects to achieve excellence in execution.
- Previous experience developing business cases, value briefs, and value propositions to support market access strategies.
- Experience delivering reimbursement and HTA information to internal sales and marketing teams.
- Ability to critically assess and synthesize clinical, epidemiological, real-world, and health-economic evidence.
