Role Overview: Lead Software Engineer - Financial Services

Foodics Financial Services develops financial products, including payments, capital, and cashflow tools, to support restaurants and merchants. Operating in a regulated environment, the team prioritizes reliability, security, and correctness while delivering products that meet merchant needs. This full-time position is based in Riyadh, Riyadh Province, and requires 5-10 years of experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage problems from discovery through design, build, launch, and iteration, working across backend services, APIs, data, and frontend as required.
• Identify and address gaps or issues in processes, such as merchant flows, reconciliation, or service scalability, and drive their resolution.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Risk, and Compliance teams to define product direction, challenge requirements, propose alternatives, and contribute data-driven insights.
• Lead architecture decisions for systems handling financial transactions, ensuring idempotency, consistency, auditability, security, and observability from inception.
• Drive the adoption of AI tools and agents to enhance team output and identify opportunities to integrate AI into products and engineering workflows.
• Mentor senior and mid-level engineers, improve the quality of design and code reviews, and contribute to team development.
• Evaluate and select appropriate languages, frameworks, and platforms based on specific problem requirements rather than established habits.

Qualifications and Experience

• 6-10 years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on financial services.
• Demonstrated ability to approach problems from a product owner's perspective.
• Proficiency in full-stack development practices.
• Experience with AI-first development methodologies.
