About Calo and the Fellowship Program
Calo is a company dedicated to making healthy living accessible through personalized meal plans, developed by a team of chefs, nutritionists, and software engineers. Launched in Bahrain in 2019, Calo has since expanded its operations to six countries, delivering millions of meals, and is now extending its mission to retail and other verticals. The Calo Fellowship is a one-year, full-time program based in Riyadh, designed for exceptional early-career talent to gain practical experience by solving real business problems and building meaningful projects.
The Marketplace Strategy Fellow Role
As a Marketplace Strategy Fellow, you will join the Project Management Track, contributing to one of Calo's rapidly expanding business verticals. The Marketplace is a dynamic part of the business, connecting customers with a growing ecosystem of products and services. This role involves bringing structure, alignment, and momentum to cross-functional initiatives as the Marketplace scales. You will serve as a dedicated project owner across Marketplace and Calo Now, working with various teams including Product, Operations, Commercial, Customer Experience, and Marketing to identify opportunities, improve processes, and drive projects from conception to execution.
Key Responsibilities

- Identify operational gaps and propose practical, scalable improvements.
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders to align priorities and ensure initiative progress.
- Analyze workflows, pinpoint bottlenecks, and enhance operational processes.
- Monitor project timelines, milestones, risks, and outcomes.
- Prepare presentations, updates, and recommendations for leadership and key stakeholders.
- Assume ownership of initiatives from discovery through implementation and continuous improvement.
Candidate Requirements
This fellowship is designed for individuals with potential, not necessarily extensive experience. Ideal candidates will demonstrate a strong aptitude for problem-solving and operational excellence. The role is suitable for individuals with 0-1 years of professional experience.
- Recently graduated from high school or university.
- Limited or no prior professional experience, coupled with a strong desire to learn.
- Adept at solving complex problems and structuring ambiguous situations.
- Enjoys organizing projects, people, and ideas.
- Asks thoughtful questions before proposing solutions.
- Communicates clearly and confidently across different audiences.
- Demonstrates ownership and follows through on commitments.
- Learns quickly and thrives in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
- Curious about business scaling and continuous improvement.
Experience with tools such as Google Workspace, Notion, Excel, project management tools, AI tools, or data visualization platforms is considered a plus, but is not a mandatory requirement.
The Calo Mindset
Calo prioritizes mindset in its hiring process. Fellows are expected to embody the following attributes:
- Maintain curiosity and a desire for continuous learning.
- Demonstrate a capacity for rapid learning.
- Take full ownership of tasks and projects.
- Exhibit a deep commitment to the quality of their work.
- Proactively solve problems rather than waiting for direction.
- Adapt comfortably to change and operate effectively in a fast-moving environment.
- Support colleagues and celebrate team achievements.
- Show humility, resilience, and a genuine commitment to personal and professional growth.
Work Environment and Program Structure
This is a full-time fellowship program. Throughout the year, Fellows will gain diverse perspectives on Calo's operations. The first two weeks of each month involve rotations across different teams to foster an end-to-end business understanding. The subsequent two weeks are dedicated to focusing on the main track, working closely with a Sponsor and Mentor to deliver impactful projects. The fellowship culminates in a Showcase Day, where Fellows present their work and learnings to Calo's leadership team.
