Role Overview: Medical Advisor Oncology/Specialty

AbbVie is seeking a Medical Advisor Oncology/Specialty (Saudi National) to join its team in Riyadh. This full-time role requires 2-5 years of experience and involves serving as the medical/scientific voice of expertise for assigned products and therapeutic areas. The Medical Advisor will provide expert advice to key customers, develop professional relationships with External Experts (EEs), and contribute medical/scientific input to Medical Affairs strategies and commercial plans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Actively participate as a brand team member, providing medical/scientific input into marketing strategy and commercial initiatives.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of assigned products and therapeutic areas through continuous learning and participation in relevant scientific events.
  • Offer expert medical/scientific advice, respond to scientific information requests, and contribute to the medical and scientific accuracy of core dossiers.
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with External Experts (EEs) and academic centers, coordinating advisory boards and discussion forums.
  • Deliver scientific presentations and medical education programs to healthcare professionals.
  • Screen scientific literature and conference information, developing summaries of key messages for internal use.
  • Conduct training for sales forces and other departments, developing and updating training materials.
  • Review and prepare promotional/non-promotional materials, ensuring medical/scientific accuracy and compliance with internal policies and local laws.
  • Ensure adherence to all applicable national laws, regulations, guidelines, and AbbVie's policies and procedures.
  • Provide strategic input and operational support for core activities such as local clinical research, HCP/customer interactions, data communication, educational initiatives, and patient safety.

Clinical Research Activities

  • Design and implement clinical research projects, including Phase IV and post-marketing activities.
  • Provide oversight for the review, approval, and conduct of Investigator-Initiated Studies (IIS).
  • Support the affiliate Clinical Research Department in managing clinical studies, including protocol review and investigator identification.

Internal and External Interactions

This role involves extensive interaction with various internal and external stakeholders. Internally, the Medical Advisor will collaborate with in-field/brand team members, affiliate R&D personnel (Medical Director, Medical Managers/Advisors, Medical Information, Pharmacovigilance), Marketing and Sales, Market Access, Government Affairs, Public Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Legal, and OEC teams. Externally, interactions will include healthcare personnel (physicians, nurses, pharmacists), research investigators, thought leaders/external experts, institutions, scientific/medical societies, hospitals, other healthcare providers, payers, and local regulatory authorities.
