Role Overview: Medical Advisor Oncology/Specialty

AbbVie is seeking a Medical Advisor Oncology/Specialty (Saudi National) to join its team in Riyadh. This full-time role requires 2-5 years of experience. The Medical Advisor will serve as the medical/scientific voice of expertise for assigned products and therapeutic areas, providing expert advice and guidance to key customers, including scientific exchange and professional relationship development with External Experts (EEs). The role involves providing medical/scientific input into Medical Affairs strategies and commercial plans, as well as supporting medical department activities under the direction of the Affiliate Medical Director.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as an active brand team member, contributing medical/scientific input to marketing strategy and commercial initiatives.
• Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of assigned products and therapeutic areas through continuous learning and participation in relevant scientific events.
• Provide expert medical/scientific advice, respond to scientific/technical information requests, and contribute to the accuracy of medical department dossiers.
• Establish and maintain professional relationships with External Experts (EEs) and academic centers, coordinating advisory boards and discussion forums.
• Deliver scientific presentations and medical education programs to healthcare professionals.
• Screen scientific literature and conference information, developing summaries of key messages for internal use.
• Conduct training for sales forces and other departments, developing and updating training materials.
• Design and implement clinical research projects (*, Phase IV, post-marketing studies) within defined standards and budgets.
• Oversee the review, approval, and conduct of Investigator-Initiated Studies (IIS).
• Support the affiliate Clinical Research Department in managing clinical studies, including protocol review and investigator identification.
• Review and prepare promotional/non-promotional materials, ensuring medical/scientific accuracy and compliance with AbbVie policies and local laws.
• Ensure adherence to all applicable national laws, regulations, guidelines, codes of conduct, and AbbVie policies.
• Serve as a scientific interface and resource for Healthcare Professionals (HCPs), institutions, External Experts, and professional associations regarding AbbVie products.
• Provide specialist medical/scientific strategic input and operational support for core activities such as local clinical research, HCP interactions, data generation, educational initiatives, and patient safety.

Internal and External Interactions

The Medical Advisor will interact with various internal and external stakeholders, including In-Field/Brand Team members, affiliate R&D personnel (Medical Director, Medical Managers/Advisors, Medical Information, Pharmacovigilance), Marketing and Sales, Market Access teams, Government Affairs, Public Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Legal, and OEC. External contacts include Healthcare Professionals, Research Investigators, thought leaders, scientific/medical societies, hospitals, healthcare providers, payers, and Local Regulatory Authorities.

Qualifications and Experience

• 2-5 years of relevant experience.
• Strong medical/scientific expertise in oncology or specialty therapeutic areas.
• Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with External Experts.
• Experience in clinical research activities, including design and implementation of studies.
• Proficiency in reviewing and preparing scientific and promotional materials for accuracy and compliance.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills for delivering scientific information and training.
