About the Role

Marriott International is seeking a full-time Manager of Banquets in Riyadh, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This role involves directing and motivating a team to deliver high-quality service based on established requirements and standards. The Manager will oversee financial and administrative responsibilities, including asset protection, and ensure clear communication for successful event execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project supply needs for the department, including china, glass, silver, buffet presentations, and props.
  • Apply knowledge of all laws relevant to event operations.
  • Manage activities to maximize customer satisfaction, understanding the impact of banquet operations on overall event success.
  • Adhere to and reinforce all company standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain established sanitation levels and manage departmental inventories and equipment.
  • Control liquor costs and manage banquet beverage perpetual inventory using banquet beverage records.
  • Schedule banquet service staff according to forecast and service standards, while maximizing profits.
  • Assist the team in developing lasting relationships with groups to retain business and increase growth.

Team Leadership and Customer Service

  • Set goals and delegate tasks to enhance departmental performance.
  • Conduct monthly department meetings with the Banquet team.
  • Apply and continually broaden knowledge of food and wine pairings and current event trends.
  • Act as a liaison to the kitchen staff and lead shifts, actively participating in event servicing.
  • Set a positive example for guest relations and interact with guests to gather feedback on product quality and service levels.
  • Respond to and resolve guest problems and complaints.
  • Empower employees to deliver excellent customer service, ensuring they understand expectations and parameters.
  • Strive to improve service performance and emphasize guest satisfaction during all departmental meetings, focusing on continuous improvement.
  • Review comment cards and guest satisfaction results with employees.

Human Resources and Training

  • Communicate and execute departmental and property emergency procedures, ensuring staff are trained in safety protocols.
  • Observe employee service behaviors and provide constructive feedback.
  • Monitor progress and lead discussions with staff each period.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of corrective action plans.
  • Review quarterly Meeting Planner Survey results and contribute to the development and implementation of corrective actions to address service challenges, with a focus on continuous improvement of guest satisfaction.
  • Attend and participate in all pertinent meetings.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should possess 2-5 years of relevant experience in banquet operations or a similar hospitality role. The ability to identify training opportunities and plan strategies to achieve goals is essential.
