About the Packaging Development Specialist Role

AlKhalejiah is seeking a Packaging Development Specialist to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is within a food manufacturing environment specializing in bakery, sweets, and FMCG products. The role is focused on developing and enhancing packaging solutions to meet product quality, operational efficiency, and food safety standards, with an emphasis on innovation.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and improve packaging solutions for bakery, pastry, sweets, and general food products.
• Collaborate with production, quality assurance, procurement, and marketing departments to ensure packaging aligns with operational needs and product integrity.
• Source, evaluate, and test packaging materials, potential suppliers, and emerging packaging technologies.
• Conduct packaging trials and testing to validate quality, functionality, and performance.
• Monitor the performance of packaging in terms of durability, product protection, visual presentation, and impact on shelf life.
• Support cost optimization efforts for packaging without compromising product quality or brand image.
• Ensure all packaging development and implementation adheres to food safety regulations and relevant industry standards.
• Prepare and maintain comprehensive packaging specifications and associated documentation.

Required Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Science, Industrial Engineering, Food Technology, or a closely related field.
• Prior experience in packaging development, specifically within the FMCG or food manufacturing sectors.
• A solid understanding of various packaging materials, printing techniques, labeling requirements, and food-grade packaging standards.
• Proficiency in coordination and communication to effectively work with cross-functional teams.
• The ability to manage multiple development projects concurrently.

Preferred Experience

Experience gained within bakery, confectionery, snacks, or general food production environments is highly advantageous for this role.
