About the Role at DeepSource

DeepSource is seeking a Passive Infrastructure Engineer (OSP) to join its team in Riyadh. This full-time position is designed for candidates with 0-1 years of professional experience, focusing on the critical design, planning, and management of outside-plant telecom infrastructure.

Role Purpose and Scope

The Passive Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for overseeing the physical components of telecom networks located outside of central facilities. This includes developing and managing underground duct routes, fiber optic networks, manholes, handholes, pole lines, and outdoor cabinets. The role ensures the establishment of reliable physical connectivity, adherence to civil works compliance, and the strategic expansion of network infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design civil routes for both underground and aerial fiber cable deployment, encompassing trenching, duct allocation, and chamber placement.
  • Manage and oversee field contractors during various civil construction activities, including horizontal directional drilling (HDD), excavation, and cable blowing.
  • Coordinate with local municipalities, utility companies, and road authorities to secure necessary Right-of-Way (RoW) and excavation permits.
  • Maintain detailed Geographic Information System (GIS) layers, As-Built drawings, and AutoCAD schematics for all outside plant assets.
  • Conduct inspections of civil and fiber installations in the field to ensure strict adherence to national telecom standards and safety regulations.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates applying for this position should meet the following requirements:

  • 0-1 years of professional experience in passive infrastructure, outside plant (OSP) engineering, or a directly related field.
  • A bachelor's degree in Engineering (*, Telecommunications, Civil, Electrical) or a closely related discipline is typically required.

Required Skills and Knowledge

The ideal candidate will possess a foundational understanding of:

  • Physical outside-plant telecom infrastructure components and deployment methodologies.
  • Civil works compliance and network expansion principles.
  • GIS (Geographic Information System) and CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software for mapping and schematic documentation.
  • Coordination processes with external authorities for permitting and approvals.
  • Quality control and inspection procedures for civil and fiber installations.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, where the engineer will work within a team focused on developing and maintaining critical telecom infrastructure.
