About the Planning Engineer Role

Mirage is seeking a Planning Engineer to join its team in Riyadh. This role is integral to the successful and timely delivery of projects by functioning within high-performing program and project team environments. The Planning Engineer will utilize project control techniques to ensure project objectives are met while minimizing claims and disputes among stakeholders. This is a full-time position.

Role Overview and Responsibilities

The Planning Engineer is responsible for developing and monitoring project programs within established performance and management frameworks. Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing initiation programs for all development stages.
  • Establishing an overall development project progress control system for all phases.
  • Creating detailed plans for all development phases.
  • Effectively presenting project plans to stakeholders.
  • Ensuring supplier programs are compliant with detailed plans and progress monitoring systems.
  • Monitoring supplier progress rates to ensure alignment with the project plan.
  • Developing and implementing action plans for slippage recovery with suppliers.
  • Assisting in the analysis of supplier claims and ensuring appropriate responses.
  • Managing the close-out planning functions for each project and ensuring correct data administration.
  • Reviewing and understanding all relevant project documents and conditions.
  • Establishing and defining project control procedures and required resources.
  • Developing a suitable work breakdown structure in conjunction with the Project Manager and Client.
  • Establishing and communicating cost and schedule baselines, and ensuring control mechanisms are in place.
  • Reviewing overall project status with the Project Control Team and recommending corrective actions.
  • Ensuring all cost, planning, and document control reports are prepared according to the Project Control Manual.
  • Performing other planning management duties as assigned by senior management.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • A tertiary qualification (University Graduate) in Project Management, Building Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Architecture, or a similar field.
  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in a planning or project management role.
  • Extensive experiential learning in the construction industry (10 years plus).
  • Experience with relevant projects of an appropriate scale.
  • Experience in KSA is preferred.
  • Experience with ground-up/new construction is preferred.
  • Active membership in a relevant professional institution is an additional consideration.
