About the Role

Orient Castle Contracting Company is seeking an experienced Planning Engineer to join their team. This full-time position is based in Tabuk and Al Wajh, Saudi Arabia. The role requires 5-10 years of proven experience in construction, fit-out, and infrastructure projects, with a focus on project planning, scheduling, and controls.

Role Overview

The Planning Engineer will be responsible for leading project planning and scheduling activities. This includes monitoring project performance, identifying risks and potential delays, preparing recovery plans, and ensuring the timely delivery of projects in accordance with contractual obligations and company objectives. The position demands strong expertise in project controls, delay analysis, and effective coordination with multidisciplinary project teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, update, and maintain detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 and other planning tools.
• Monitor project progress and compare actual performance against the approved baseline schedule.
• Coordinate with project managers, site engineers, procurement teams, and subcontractors to ensure timely execution of project activities.
• Liaise with the Cost Control Department to monitor and control project costs, prepare cash flow forecasts, and ensure alignment with the approved project budget.
• Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports, look-ahead schedules, and management dashboards.
• Track critical activities and identify potential delays that may impact project milestones and completion dates.
• Analyze resource utilization, productivity rates, and project performance indicators.
• Prepare recovery schedules and mitigation plans to address project delays and maintain contractual commitments.
• Support project managers in planning construction activities, sequencing works, and optimizing resource allocation.
• Conduct critical path analysis and provide recommendations to improve project performance.
• Assist in the preparation of Extension of Time (EOT) claims, delay analyses, and supporting documentation when required.
• Maintain accurate project records and planning documentation.
• Participate in project meetings and provide planning updates and recommendations to management.
• Ensure compliance with company procedures, project specifications, and contractual requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of 5-10 years of proven experience in construction, fit-out, and infrastructure projects.
• Strong proficiency in Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and project planning and scheduling techniques.
• Solid understanding of construction and infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of project controls, progress monitoring, and reporting.
• Experience in resource planning and productivity analysis.
• Familiarity with delay analysis, risk management, and the Critical Path Method (CPM).
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, Bills of Quantities (BOQs), specifications, and project documentation.
• Fluent in both Arabic and English (written and spoken).
