About the Role

WSP in the Middle East is expanding its Creative Lighting Design Studio and seeks a Principal Consultant – Lighting Design. This role is designed for a seasoned lighting professional to enhance design capabilities, lead significant projects, and contribute to the growth of a leading regional lighting studio. The successful candidate will be instrumental in driving creative excellence, managing client relationships, and providing technical and commercial leadership on prominent regional projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead complex lighting design projects from initiation through to completion, ensuring both creative and technical quality.
• Act as a primary client representative, responsible for presentations, stakeholder engagement, and guiding design strategy.
• Apply strong commercial acumen, including effective budget management, financial oversight, and scope control.
• Manage project resources, team assignments, and workflow to ensure efficient project delivery.
• Drive internal studio initiatives focused on growth, innovation, and maintaining high design standards.
• Provide line management and mentorship to junior team members, overseeing 1-2 direct reports.
• Contribute to the development of high-quality proposals, bids, and design submissions.
• Strengthen WSP's lighting design profile and thought leadership across the Middle East.

Qualifications and Requirements

• A minimum of 15 years of experience in architectural/creative lighting design.
• Proven experience in leading multidisciplinary project teams effectively.
• Demonstrated ability in managing client relationships and delivering projects within demanding timelines.
• Capacity to support business development, create compelling proposals, and secure new work.
