About the Role

Ma’aden is seeking a Principal Specialist, Trading Management to maximize the commercial value of Gold Doré sales. This full-time position, based in Riyadh, involves advanced market intelligence, price forecasting, commercial analysis, and trading strategy evaluation. The role serves as the company's subject matter expert on global precious metals markets, providing strategic advisory support to management and sales teams on pricing decisions, market opportunities, risk management strategies, and sales execution.

Role Responsibilities

The Principal Specialist will monitor market developments, evaluate pricing alternatives, assess market risks, and identify value enhancement opportunities. Key responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring global Gold Doré, precious metals, foreign exchange, interest rate, and macroeconomic markets to identify pricing opportunities, market trends, and commercial risks.
  • Assessing market conditions, analyst reports, refinery developments, geopolitical events, central bank activities, and economic indicators impacting Gold Doré prices and demand.
  • Developing and maintaining short-term, medium-term, and long-term gold price forecasts using fundamental, technical, quantitative, and market-based analysis methodologies.
  • Providing daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual market intelligence reports covering market developments, price trends, forecasts, assumptions, opportunities, risks, and strategic recommendations.
  • Acting as the internal advisor on Gold Doré pricing and commercialization strategies, offering expert guidance to Sales and Commercial teams.
  • Evaluating and recommending optimal sales and pricing strategies for Gold Doré.
  • Analyzing and assessing trading and risk management alternatives to enhance commercial value and manage market exposure.
  • Developing pricing models and commercial scenarios to compare alternatives and identify value-accretive strategies.
  • Providing market timing recommendations to maximize realized prices and support commercial decision-making.
  • Identifying opportunities to enhance revenue through market optimization, pricing strategy improvements, commercial structuring, and strategic sales execution.
  • Tracking and benchmarking Ma’aden's realized Gold Doré sales performance against global market references and industry benchmarks.
  • Developing and maintaining advanced analytical models, dashboards, and reporting tools using Excel, Power BI, PowerPoint, and Think-Cell.
  • Preparing executive-level presentations and strategic reports highlighting market outlooks, price forecasts, commercial opportunities, risk assessments, and performance analyses.
  • Participating as a Technical and Commercial Evaluator in annual Gold Refining and Offtake RFP processes, including evaluation of refinery capabilities, commercial terms, and overall economic value.
  • Collaborating with Sales, Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, Treasury, and senior management to align pricing strategies and commercial decisions with business objectives.
  • Maintaining comprehensive market intelligence databases and historical pricing records.
  • Staying informed of developments in global precious metals markets, commodity trading practices, financial markets, and risk management tools.
  • Providing strategic recommendations to management regarding pricing policies, commercialization strategies, market exposure, refinery selection, and revenue optimization initiatives.

Key Trading and Risk Management Activities

The role involves active engagement with various trading and risk management instruments and mechanisms, including:

  • LBMA AM and PM benchmark pricing.
  • Live LBMA spot price execution.
  • Auction-based sales mechanisms.
  • Fixed-price transactions and formula-based pricing structures.
  • Alternative pricing mechanisms offered by refineries and off-takers.
  • Hedging strategies and forward sales arrangements.
  • Gold derivative instruments, including call and put option purchasing and selling strategies.
  • Collar structures and other market risk management solutions.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should meet the following requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field. A Master's degree or professional certification (*, MBA) is preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of 10-15 years of experience in Gold Doré trading, precious metals marketing, commodity trading, market intelligence, pricing analysis, treasury, risk management, or commercial strategy functions.
  • Market Knowledge: Proven experience with LBMA pricing mechanisms, precious metals markets, refinery commercial agreements, market analysis, forecasting, hedging strategies, and derivative products.
  • Commercial Skills: Demonstrated experience in commercial evaluations, refinery selection processes, contract negotiations, and strategic pricing decision-making.
