The Role of QA/QC Specialist

SYSTRA is seeking a QA/QC Specialist to provide quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) support for assigned functional areas of a Rail/Metro project in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role ensures adherence to client and contractual specifications. The QA/QC Specialist will report to the QA/QC Manager and will collaborate with various functional groups, including program management, engineering, and construction.

Key Responsibilities

• Stop work activities that present a serious breach of Health, Safety, or Environmental standards.
• Coordinate with construction staff to plan necessary inspections and testing activities in advance.
• Ensure adherence to Contractors' Project Quality Assurance and Quality Control Plans & Procedures by closely monitoring works performed by Contractors, Sub-Contractors, and Suppliers.
• Maintain surveillance of DB Contractors' QC Inspectors and collaborate with them.
• Conduct site visits for visual verification of procedure adherence and gather feedback from NCRs, progress meetings, and individual reports from the workforce, supervisors, and management.
• Ensure As-Built Quality Records are produced in accordance with Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
• Conduct surveillance of ITP content and the required compilation of referenced records concerning materials specifications, tolerances, standards, certification to compliance, traceability, and product realization.
• Monitor temperatures where applicable, ensuring timely sampling, handling, curing, storage, and testing.
• Verify the existence of authorized-for-use ITPs at the workplace before and during the start of work activities.
• Ensure site QA/QC compliance through on-site surveillance or via QC Inspector reporting, including visual, feedback, and written reports.
• Plan daily inspection activities and surveillances.
• Conduct audits to verify that plans and procedures are followed, and documentary evidence is produced and maintained (desirable, non-essential).

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in quality assurance and quality control on heavy infrastructure, civil engineering, or rail and metro projects.
• Knowledge of QA/QC principles, tools, and techniques.
• A quality qualification or membership of a professional quality body is ideal.

Required Skills

• Excellent English language skills, both verbal and written.
• Strong ability to read and interpret technical documents.
