Assistant Vice President Credit Risk at QNB Group

QNB Group is seeking an Assistant Vice President Credit Risk to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role requires an experienced professional to manage credit approval processes and ensure adherence to established credit risk policies and best practices. The position is critical in maintaining the quality of the Group's credit exposure and supporting its strategic objectives.

Role Purpose and Scope

The Assistant Vice President Credit Risk is responsible for assisting in the management of credit approval processes for individual credit facility proposals. This includes proposals for Corporate and specific Retail customers that fall outside standard policy parameters. The role involves assessing the quality of credit exposure, ensuring strict adherence to established policies and procedures, and continuously researching and applying best practices in credit risk, in line with Basel II and other relevant guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform credit assessments and provide approvals within delegated authority, ensuring compliance with QNB’s Credit Risk Strategy and established policies.
  • Supervise the assessment of credit proposals, analyzing various credit risk facets including facility and guarantee assessment, client background, industry and country analysis, financial and cash flow analysis, and risk ratings.
  • Recommend extending or declining facility requests, or propose additional security/deal structuring to safeguard Group interests.
  • Ensure all credit approvals meet overall policy guidelines and QCB regulations, stipulating terms and conditions to mitigate credit risk.
  • Coordinate with business unit Relationship Managers for timely receipt of customer documents and information required for creditworthiness evaluation.
  • Assist in creating Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the department and monitor their achievement periodically.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal departments and units to achieve Group objectives.
  • Provide timely and accurate information to external and internal auditors and the Compliance function.
  • Work towards improving the overall Group credit portfolio by instilling credit risk best practices.
  • Identify and facilitate correction of any weaknesses found during assessments, audits, or examinations.

Required Experience and Skills

  • A minimum of 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in credit risk management.
  • Strong understanding of credit risk strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • In-depth knowledge of Basel II and other relevant credit risk guidelines and regulations.
  • Proficiency in performing comprehensive credit assessments and financial analysis.
  • Ability to identify areas for continuous improvement and encourage innovative practices within the team.
  • Understanding of business processes and controls in credit and operational areas.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain professional standards and foster team development.

Compliance and Professional Conduct

The incumbent must comply with all applicable legal, regulatory, and internal compliance requirements, including Group Compliance Policies and Procedures (AML & CTF, Sanctions Policy, Data Protection Policy, Fraud Control Policy, Whistle Blowing Policy, Conflict of Interest and Insider Dealing Policy). This role requires understanding and effectively performing duties under the Three Lines of Defence principle to identify, measure, monitor, manage, and report risks. Maintaining high standards of data protection and confidentiality for commercially sensitive information, as well as upholding QNB's reputation, is paramount. All mandatory training provided by the Bank must be completed to ensure full qualification and competence for the role.
