Quality Engineer Soil and Geotechnical Materials Laboratories

About the Role

Alqotr is seeking a Quality Engineer Soil and Geotechnical Materials Laboratories to join their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role requires 2-5 years of experience and focuses on ensuring the effective implementation of quality management systems within the laboratory environment.

Job Objective

The primary objective of this position is to ensure the effective implementation of the laboratory Quality Management System in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025. The Quality Engineer will verify the quality and accuracy of laboratory and field testing, monitor personnel competency and equipment performance, and ensure compliance with Saudi Accreditation Center (SAAC) requirements to obtain and maintain accreditation.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain the Quality Management System in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025, including quality procedures, documentation, records, and performance indicators.
• Verify that laboratory and field tests comply with applicable standards such as ASTM, AASHTO, BS, and SBC, and review the accuracy of test results, data, and calculations.
• Monitor internal quality control, proficiency testing, and interlaboratory comparisons as applicable.
• Oversee equipment calibration, verification, and maintenance, ensuring equipment suitability for its intended use.
• Conduct and follow up on internal audits, investigate root causes of nonconformities, and monitor corrective actions for effectiveness.
• Prepare accreditation documentation for the Saudi Accreditation Center (SAAC), coordinate assessments, address findings, and monitor the approved scope of accreditation.
• Train laboratory personnel, assess their competency, and ensure compliance with quality procedures and occupational health and safety requirements.
• Review testing records and technical reports to ensure completeness, accuracy, traceability, and confidentiality, and follow up on quality-related complaints and risks.

Required Experience and Qualifications

• 2-5 years of relevant experience in quality engineering, particularly within soil and geotechnical materials laboratories.
• Demonstrated understanding and experience with ISO/IEC 17025 standards.
• Familiarity with testing standards including ASTM, AASHTO, BS, and SBC.

Additional Requirements

• Compliance with applicable regulations in Saudi Arabia and confidentiality and impartiality requirements.
• Willingness to visit work sites and monitor field testing activities as required.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, involving both laboratory and occasional field site visits.
