About the Role

Afaq - Warehouse Branch is seeking a Safety Officer, WHS to join their team in Riyadh. This full-time position requires 2-5 years of experience and involves driving health and safety initiatives within a fulfillment center environment. The Safety Officer will report directly to the WHS Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead site risk assessments for both current and new activities.
  • Establish and implement the site's WHS training matrix, standards, and guidelines.
  • Drive the implementation of site-specific WHS objectives and programs.
  • Promote a safe culture by providing daily WHS content during shift briefings.
  • Conduct frequent site safety audits to identify non-compliant equipment or processes.
  • Collaborate with the Operations team to implement solutions that eliminate risks and prevent injuries.
  • Respond to incidents and occupational injuries on site.
  • Guide and assist area managers with incident investigations, Gensuite write-ups, and communication of lessons learned.
  • Assist the Operations team with Gensuite follow-up sheets and Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) creation.
  • Audit record-keeping practices to ensure Gensuite entries align with global WHS standards and local regulations.
  • Manage PPE inventory and coordinate procurement orders.
  • Conduct weekly Key Safety Requirement (KSR) audits, monitoring, and support.
  • Ensure completion of basic Fire Fighting and First Aid training requirements.
  • Perform daily Powered Industrial Tool and Trailer Dock Release inspections and communications.
  • Monitor and support the Daily Action Tracking System (ATS).
  • Participate in site management safety walks, providing insights into unsafe acts and conditions.
  • Provide daily updates to the Country WHS Manager on objective progress, incidents, KSR, ATS, and network actions.
  • Prepare WHS committee meeting agendas, Minutes of Meeting (MOM) write-ups, and ATS creation.
  • Review and sign off on daily Permit to Work.
  • Lead WHS-related procurement and follow-up.
  • Prepare and manage emergency response plans and conduct emergency drills.
  • Establish, monitor, and support the Heat Index.
  • Provide support for site-specific requests, unplanned events, and activities.
  • Conduct daily and weekly WHS audits, including hazard waste room, spill kit, and first aid room inspections.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • NEBOSH (National General Certificate).
  • Demonstrated experience in emergency response.
  • Ability to analyze accident data, new processes, and machinery for potential safety concerns, and conduct job hazard and job safety analyses.
  • Experience implementing lean principles and process improvement in an operational environment.

Skills and Attributes

  • Proficiency in English communication skills, both written and verbal, to facilitate interaction with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Adaptability to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, and strategy.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, focusing on maintaining and improving workplace health and safety within a dynamic fulfillment center.
