The Role of Senior Android Engineer

Delivery Hero SE is seeking a Senior Android Engineer (Saudi National) to join its team in Riyadh. This full-time position requires an individual contributor with strong team player capabilities, aiming to deliver high-quality software solutions and contribute directly to product development.

Key Responsibilities

• Stay informed on the latest software development methodologies to provide best-in-class solutions.
• Analyze product requirements to understand engineering needs, evaluate technical feasibility, estimate efforts, and provide solutions in collaboration with the Product Team.
• Assist in building development components and managing the programming of solution components to accurately transform requirements into working software.
• Document all coding steps to ensure comprehensibility and facilitate future modifications and maintenance.
• Write unit, integration, and UI/Snapshot tests.
• Investigate and resolve issues and bugs through patches and other means.
• Collaborate with colleagues on code reviews and deliver corresponding reports.
• Perform functional and module testing to ensure the functionality of delivered solutions.
• Monitor, evaluate, and report on product development, recommending improvements as necessary.
• Assist in user trials and acceptance testing.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• 5+ years of software development experience with a strong foundation in design patterns and algorithms. Kotlin is preferred, with Java background accepted.
• Technology-agnostic mindset with deep expertise in native Android development.
• Hands-on experience delivering high-quality, testable code using modern mobile architectures.
• In-depth understanding of the Android lifecycle (Activities, Fragments) and practical experience with Agile frameworks (Scrum/Kanban).
• Proven track record of driving significant impact on complex systems, with open-source contributions and technical publications being a plus.
• Execution-driven mindset with strong project prioritization, multi-tasking abilities, and mastery of version control tools (Git).
• Deep familiarity with Modern Android Development (MAD) practices and toolkits, including ViewModel, LiveData, Paging, Navigation, SafeArgs, Retrofit2, RxJava2, and multi-module Dagger2 setups.
• Passion for elegant design and architectural modularization; experience with native iOS or Flutter is highly desirable.
• Solid understanding of modular app architecture principles and CI/CD pipelines.
• Ability to design and implement maintainable, scalable new modules.
• Familiarity with AI tools, APIs, and machine learning integration within mobile applications.
• Cross-platform versatility with hands-on experience in both Android and iOS ecosystems.
