Senior Full Stack Engineer

About the Role

NovaLexi is seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer to join their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves designing and building across the entire platform, encompassing server-side development with Rails and GraphQL, client-side implementation with and React, and integrated AI features. The platform is designed to be secure, multi-tenant, and bilingual, meeting the standards expected by regulated enterprise and government clients.

• Design and build backend services and the platform’s GraphQL API using Rails 8 and PostgreSQL.
• Develop the product interface with 16 and React 19, utilizing server components by default, Apollo Client for data, and typed GraphQL generated from the schema.
• Model complex IP-lifecycle domains, including patents, trademarks, renewals, deadline calculation, and multi-jurisdiction rules.
• Implement row-level multi-tenant data isolation and role-based access control (RBAC) from resolver to rendered page.
• Build AI-backed features, including agentic services, document analysis, and streaming chat/summaries over ActionCable, with evaluation and guardrails for output quality.
• Manage integrations with external systems such as patent-office/registry APIs, SSO (SAML and OIDC), billing, and document pipelines.
• Ensure the interface is bilingual, functioning in English and Arabic with right-to-left support, using logical CSS and a shared design system.
• Oversee performance, reliability, and security (SSO/MFA, encryption, secure SDLC) in alignment with NCA controls and PDPL.
• Facilitate rapid development with AI-assisted tools like Claude Code, while establishing guardrails such as review gates, automated tests, and security checks.
• Set engineering standards, conduct code reviews, and mentor other engineers.
• Perform all responsibilities assigned by the direct manager.

• A minimum of 8 years of experience in building production software, including delivery for large-scale organizations, enterprise or government platforms, high data volumes, and significant integration surfaces.
• Demonstrated full-stack capability, having owned features from the database through the API to the rendered interface, with strong proficiency in at least one side.
• In-depth server-side experience, including a modern backend framework (Ruby on Rails strongly preferred), expert relational database design in PostgreSQL, and background job processing (Solid Queue, Sidekiq, or equivalent).
• Production experience with React and TypeScript, ideally App Router with server components.
• Proven experience with GraphQL on both sides: designing schema, resolvers, and performance (graphql-ruby preferred), and consuming it on the client against a typed, generated schema (Apollo Client).
• Experience delivering enterprise-grade, multi-tenant SaaS, and familiarity with the demands of large multi-stakeholder programs, including availability/performance targets, regulatory requirements, and client communication.
• A practice of writing tests across unit, request, and end-to-end levels, treating failing builds as a stop-work condition.
• Proficiency with AI coding tools such as Claude Code, with a thoughtful approach to implementing guardrails for correctness and security.
• Experience working in a fast-paced startup environment, demonstrating self-managed time, adaptability to changing priorities, task completion, and delivery on short timelines.
