Senior Landscape Architect

About the Role

AECOM Saudi Arabia is seeking a Senior Landscape Architect to join their team in Riyadh. This full-time position requires 5-10 years of experience and involves leading landscape design projects, managing teams, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality technical packages. The role focuses on applying public realm and sustainability standards while fostering design innovation and mentoring junior staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage, coordinate, and lead smaller, less complex landscape design projects independently with minimal oversight.
• Structure project teams with a clear understanding of roles and responsibilities.
• Prepare deployment plans based on project fees for senior team review.
• Lead client meetings and take ownership of deliverable structure and content.
• Interpret, qualify, quantify, and graphically represent applicable public realm standards.
• Determine correct sources for public realm, sustainability standards, and regulatory guidelines per region.
• Demonstrate knowledge of public realm design principles and translate vision frameworks into objectives.
• Provide clear descriptive writing for landscape design principles and guidelines.
• Participate in internal and external workshops, preparing summary outcome reports.
• Lead design teams in preparing workshop materials and client presentations following established storylines.
• Deliver designs and entire technical landscape packages independently with senior team review.
• Understand authority requirements and coordinate technical inputs from various disciplines.
• Possess a full understanding of regional planting and irrigation requirements and standards.
• Manage finance reports and project financial status with guidance from Project Managers.
• Provide updates for weekly studio and resourcing meetings.
• Assist in reviewing landscape cost plans and gain site experience on built projects.
• Support bid preparation, including technical approach, methodologies, delivery structure, and commercial aspects.
• Organize internal libraries and update project sheets for ongoing projects.
• Develop innovative design ideas and solutions using digital tools and personal skills.
• Advocate for and apply quality procedures, conducting thorough self-checks and reviews of deliverables.
• Review documents as per PDS deliverable QA/QC checks.
• Enhance landscape design graphics across projects and document them for team use.
• Orient, integrate, guide, and mentor new landscape recruits, providing access to relevant materials.
• Provide mentorship and coaching to graduates and landscape architects.

Required Experience and Skills

• 6-10 years of experience in landscape architecture.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and lead design projects.
• Strong understanding of public realm, sustainability standards, and regulatory guidelines.
• Proficiency in preparing technical landscape packages.
• Experience with digital design tools and graphic enhancement.
• Ability to mentor and guide junior team members.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The role involves working within a collaborative team environment, requiring active participation in workshops and client interactions.
