Senior Product Manager

About the Role

Malaa is seeking a Senior Product Manager to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is designed for a product manager with a software engineering background who can rapidly take a problem from concept to a working version, test it with customers, and decide on its scalability or discontinuation. Product managers at Malaa are generalists, working across the entire product, including investing, lending, savings, and the growth loops that connect them.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Product Manager will collaborate with a squad of engineers and manage a dynamic portfolio of initiatives across the product, prioritized each cycle based on business needs. Responsibilities include:

• Being measured on outcomes such as deposits into portfolios, activation and conversion between products, retention, and the squad's shipping pace. Each initiative will have a target, and you will be responsible for outlining the approach to achieve it.
• Prioritizing prototypes over specifications, utilizing AI development tools and an engineering background to build working versions, read the codebase, define event taxonomy, and query data directly. Engineers will receive a running prototype and a clear brief.
• Simplifying the product by removing features with no usage, flows with unnecessary steps, or unnecessary settings each quarter.
• Improving features that gain traction through experiments, cohort analysis, and funnel data until positive movement is observed.
• Treating regulation as product work by designing compliance, personal data protection, KYC, and disclosures into the product from the start, involving the compliance team early to ensure regulated flows are simple for the customer.
• Maintaining a single channel and a single ranked list for product requests from across the company, declining requests in writing with clear reasons.
• Setting, explaining, and defending priorities for initiatives and being accountable for commitments.

Collaboration with Engineering

Product and engineering at Malaa operate as one team under a single planning model. Each product manager is paired with a small squad of engineers and its engineering lead, with design shared across squads. The ratio of product managers to engineers is kept low. All changes, whether customer-facing, technical health, reliability, or platform, enter the same prioritization process. Product managers are expected to advocate for engineering health alongside customer outcomes. Execution is coordinated daily within the squad, while priorities, capacity, and trade-offs are settled weekly across squads. Every initiative is documented before it is built, and product managers conduct the necessary technical exploration to write complete requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should possess 2-5 years of experience in product management, coupled with a background in software engineering. The role requires an individual who can handle the initial discovery phase independently and demonstrate a strong understanding of product development from concept to implementation.
