As a Senior Road Engineer in Riyadh, you will play a pivotal role in delivering comprehensive road engineering design packages for urban and rural projects, from the initial concept stage through to the Issued For Construction (IFC) phase. This position requires close coordination with various specialist teams, including drainage, utilities, infrastructure, and traffic, to ensure the delivery of integrated and high-quality projects. A key aspect of this role involves preparing submission packages for local authorities, demonstrating your understanding and adherence to Saudi Arabian regulations. This role is ideal for experienced engineers seeking to contribute to the development of critical infrastructure within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where you will leverage your technical expertise and collaborative skills to drive innovative and sustainable road design solutions.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

• Design and develop highway projects, ensuring strict compliance with Saudi Arabian local standards and relevant international standards.
• Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated and high-quality infrastructure solutions.
• Utilize advanced engineering software to create detailed and accurate road and highway designs.
• Apply sustainable and innovative approaches to road design to meet modern infrastructure challenges.
• Prepare comprehensive technical reports, detailed design calculations, and essential project documentation.
• Contribute significantly to the preparation of project proposals and tender documents.
• Stay abreast of the latest industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in highway engineering.
• Prepare construction drawings and provide support to engineers in quantity estimations and Bills of Quantities (BOQs).
• Support Road Geometry Approval (RGA) and Traffic Geometry Approval (TGA) submission processes.
• Collaborate closely with BIM engineers, BIM managers, GIS teams, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless data and model exchange throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Possess strong technical expertise and a deep understanding of road design principles, including but not limited to:
• Selection/design speeds, sight distances, and stopping/decision checks.
• Production of horizontal and vertical alignments, longitudinal sections, cross-slope calculations and applications, typical cross-sections, and transitions.
• Experience in intersection and roundabout engineering, lane balancing, storage/passing lane lengths, median opening, and access management.
• Proven proficiency in using Autodesk Civil 3D for road and civil infrastructure design, with the ability to develop and maintain road and civil infrastructure models (alignment, corridors, profiles, cross-sections, details).
• Knowledge of stormwater and road drainage principles.
• Familiarity with the application of local and international standards (*, SHC, AASHTO, BS/EN) to design outputs.
• Experience in producing technical notes and design reports.
• Essential requirement: Proven experience working on projects within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).

Required Skills

• Mastery of Autodesk Civil 3D for advanced road and civil infrastructure design.
• Experience in developing and maintaining road and civil infrastructure models within Autodesk Civil 3D, including alignments, corridors, profiles, cross-sections, and details.
• Comprehensive knowledge of road design principles, including operating speeds, sight distances, stopping/decision checks, horizontal and vertical alignments, longitudinal sections, cross-slopes, typical cross-sections, and transitions.
• Experience in intersection/roundabout engineering, lane balancing, storage/passing lanes, median openings, and access management.
• Understanding of stormwater and road drainage principles.
• Familiarity with the application of local and international standards such as SHC, AASHTO, and BS/EN.
• Ability to produce technical notes and design reports.
• Experience in pavement markings/striping and roadside safety layouts.
• Familiarity with InfraWorks for conceptual and preliminary design.
• Knowledge of pavement design according to AASHTO/SHC standards.
• Strong collaboration and teamwork skills.
• Effective problem-solving abilities.
