Job Description

About the Role

King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre in Riyadh is seeking a Senior Technologist, Positron Emission Tomography. This full-time role involves performing all Positron Emission Tomography (PET) imaging procedures with a focus on leadership practices, including scheduling, inventory control, and quality assurance. The Senior Technologist will also assist in the education and training of students and new staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily quality control and quality assurance on PET cameras and calibrate laboratory equipment to ensure proper operation.
  • Review exam orders, requisitions, and corresponding protocols, coordinating procedures with physicians.
  • Notify the Radionuclide Production Department of pending patient schedules for isotope production and maintain records of radiopharmaceutical dispensing and disposal.
  • Explain procedures to patients, prepare them for PET/CT exams, and administer required radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Execute the acquisition, processing, and archiving of all PET scans according to section-specific protocols, ensuring optimum image quality on PACS and workstations.
  • Assist in developing new investigative procedures and establishing protocols in cooperation with physicians.
  • Aid in the training and orientation of new employees, interns, and students, and participate in in-service and continuing education programs.
  • Observe radiation safety techniques and procedures, reporting inconsistencies to the PET team leader, and assisting personnel with radiation safety issues.
  • Maintain inventory of stock and non-stock supplies, informing the supervisor of items needing reordering.
  • Ensure safe operation and proper maintenance of equipment, reporting safety hazards or repair needs to the supervisor.
  • Assume the duties of the PET supervisor in their absence.

Compliance and Quality Assurance

  • Comply with section policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Adhere to the section quality improvement program in accordance with CBAHI, JCI, SFDA, and other accreditation agency standards.
  • Comply with the Hospital’s Radiation Safety Rules and Regulations, in accordance with KACST, * CARE, and other National or International Regulatory bodies.
  • Apply the ALARA principle within section practice for all procedures.
  • Follow all Hospital’s related Policies and Procedures.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should possess 0-1 years of relevant experience. This role requires a professional who can manage complex imaging procedures and contribute to a high-standard healthcare environment.
