About the Role

Amazon is seeking a Sr Regional Pre-construction GES to lead the delivery of pre-construction (engineering design) phases for significant Customer Fulfillment (FC), delivery station (AMZL), sort center (SC), and quick commerce projects and conversions across AMET countries. In this full-time role, based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the successful candidate will function as the AMET Head of Pre-Construction, managing an annual investment portfolio exceeding USD 1 billion for projects ranging from 6,000 to 1,000,000 square feet.

Role Purpose and Strategic Impact

This role is central to driving projects from initial site selection and evaluation through budget estimation, concept design, schematic design, and detail design, ensuring readiness for construction. The successful candidate will ensure project launches align with Plan of Record requirements for timelines, quality, and financial targets, while also building a robust 3+ year pipeline to anticipate future capacity needs. Operating at the intersection of real estate, design, and construction, this position reduces business risk by developing high-performing fulfillment centers across the AMET region, evaluating opportunities, influencing strategic decisions, and establishing the foundation for successful project execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all pre-construction activities, including site selection, site evaluation, budget estimation, concept design, schematic design, and detail design for complex projects.
• Collaborate with Design & Construction stakeholders and Real Estate teams to develop construction and site strategies that achieve optimal quality and business outcomes.
• Identify process improvements, analyze design conflicts, evaluate resources, and predict and mitigate risks throughout the pre-construction phase.
• Drive critical decisions on technical solutions, cost implications, and risk mitigation strategies, ensuring project safety and timely delivery.
• Lead and mentor large cross-functional teams, serving as a subject matter expert to guide projects from concept through construction readiness.
• Apply analytical skills to navigate local regulations and customer requirements, challenging current practices to develop innovative solutions.
• Create and manage written communications for business partners and stakeholders on pre-construction matters, fostering collaborative relationships within Amazon and with external partners.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues independently, managing multicultural teams and facilitating stakeholder alignment with minimal supervision.
• Conduct site validations, perform due diligence assessments, manage design development, lead risk analysis, and negotiate contracts and costs.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in pre-construction, engineering design, or a related field, preferably within large-scale industrial or logistics projects.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor large cross-functional teams, driving project deliverables independently.
• Strong analytical skills to navigate complex technical solutions, cost implications, local regulations, and customer requirements.
• Proven ability to exercise sound judgment in critical decision-making, weighing risks and opportunities effectively.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with both frontline teams and executive leadership, and translating complex technical concepts into clear business recommendations.
• Experience in risk management, process improvement, and stakeholder alignment in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment and Travel

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The role requires significant travel, up to 50% across the AMET region, to support site evaluations and provide construction oversight during critical project phases.
