Senior Architect, Heritage and Urban Planning

Assystem Radicon is seeking a Senior Architect specializing in Heritage and Urban Planning to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This is a full-time position focused on contributing to significant heritage and urban development projects within the region.

Role Purpose

The Senior Architect will play a crucial role in the development and oversight of architectural designs for heritage and urban development initiatives. This position involves ensuring design integrity, compliance with regulatory standards, and effective coordination across multidisciplinary project teams, with a strong emphasis on preserving cultural and historical assets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and review architectural designs, drawings, specifications, and technical documents for heritage and urban development projects.
  • Ensure architectural designs align with project vision, master plans, urban design principles, and heritage conservation requirements.
  • Review submissions from consultants and contractors, including shop drawings, material submittals, mock-ups, and method statements.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams such as Urban Planning, Landscape, Structural, MEP, BIM, and Infrastructure.
  • Conduct site inspections to monitor construction quality, design compliance, and adherence to approved drawings and specifications.
  • Support the restoration, rehabilitation, adaptive reuse, and conservation of heritage buildings and culturally significant assets.
  • Ensure compliance with Saudi Building Code (SBC), MOMRA regulations, accessibility standards, and applicable heritage authority requirements.
  • Participate in value engineering, constructability reviews, and design optimization while preserving heritage character.
  • Assist in resolving technical issues during design and construction phases.
  • Review material selections, architectural finishes, façade treatments, and conservation methodologies.
  • Prepare technical reports, design review comments, inspection reports, and progress updates.
  • Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, and government authorities throughout project delivery.
  • Support BIM coordination and multidisciplinary design integration.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in architecture.
  • Experience in heritage restoration, conservation, urban regeneration, mixed-use developments, or large-scale urban development projects.
  • Previous experience on projects similar to Diriyah Gate, AlUla, Historic Jeddah, Qiddiya, NEOM, or comparable cultural and heritage developments is highly desirable.
  • Experience with engineering consultancies, Project Management Consultancies (PMC), or supervising engineering offices is preferred.
