Sr. Design Engineer Structural

About the Role

Nesma & Partners is seeking a Sr. Design Engineer Structural to join their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role focuses on leading and executing structural engineering design activities, with a primary emphasis on steel structures for industrial, commercial, and infrastructure projects. The position involves developing structural designs, performing complex calculations, reviewing engineering drawings, and ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead structural design and engineering activities for steel structures, including industrial buildings, warehouses, platforms, pipe racks, equipment supports, and structural frames.
• Perform detailed structural analysis and design calculations for steel structures.
• Develop and review structural design drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Design steel connections, including bolted and welded connections.
• Ensure structural integrity, stability, strength, and serviceability of steel structures.
• Review engineering deliverables to ensure compliance with project specifications and applicable international standards.
• Coordinate with civil, architectural, mechanical, piping, and other engineering disciplines.
• Review and approve technical calculations, drawings, and design packages within the assigned authority.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior structural engineers and designers.
• Identify potential design issues and recommend practical engineering solutions.
• Participate in technical meetings with clients, consultants, and project stakeholders.
• Ensure all design activities are delivered according to project schedules, quality requirements, and safety standards.

Technical Requirements and Expertise

Candidates should possess 5-10 years of experience and demonstrate strong expertise in the following areas:

• Structural Steel Design and Analysis.
• Steel Structures and Industrial Steel Buildings.
• Structural Stability and Load Calculations.
• Steel Connections Design (Bolted & Welded).
• Structural Framing Systems.
• Pipe Racks, Platforms, Access Structures, and Equipment Supports.
• Foundation Interface and Anchor Bolt Design.
• Wind, Seismic, Dead, Live, and Dynamic Load Calculations.
• Structural Design Reviews and Technical Verification.
• Preparation of Structural Calculations and Design Reports.

Software Proficiency

Experience with the following engineering software is preferred:

• ******
• SAP2000
• ETABS
• Tekla Structures
• AutoCAD
• Revit Structure
• IDEA StatiCa (preferred for connection design)

Applicable Codes and Standards

Working knowledge of relevant international standards is required, including:

• AISC – American Institute of Steel Construction.
• ACI – American Concrete Institute.
• ASCE 7 – Minimum Design Loads and Associated Criteria.
• AWS * – Structural Welding Code.
• Eurocode 3 – Design of Steel Structures.
• Applicable Saudi Building Code (SBC) requirements.
