About Norconsult Telematics and the Storage Design Engineer Role

Norconsult Telematics is seeking a Storage Design Engineer to join our team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This is a full-time position focused on the strategic design and management of enterprise storage solutions. The role requires a professional with 2-5 years of experience in storage infrastructure.

Position Objective

The primary objective of this role is to design, architect, and govern enterprise storage infrastructure. The focus will be on solutions built using Dell and NetApp technologies, ensuring they are scalable, secure, highly available, and high-performing. These solutions will support mission-critical applications, virtualization, cloud platforms, Kubernetes/OpenShift environments, and essential backup and disaster recovery initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end enterprise storage solutions utilizing Dell PowerMax, PowerStore, Unity XT, ECS, and NetApp AFF, FAS, and ONTAP platforms.
• Develop High-Level Designs (HLD), Low-Level Designs (LLD), implementation plans, migration strategies, and comprehensive technical documentation.
• Perform storage sizing, capacity planning, forecasting, and performance analysis based on defined business and application requirements.
• Design SAN, NAS, Object Storage, Fibre Channel, NVMe, iSCSI, and IP storage architectures.
• Create storage solutions for VMware, Red Hat OpenShift, Kubernetes, and cloud environments, including CSI integration.
• Implement high availability, snapshots, replication, Metro/Global replication, backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions.
• Evaluate and validate Dell and NetApp solutions to ensure compliance with security, governance, and business requirements.
• Prepare and review RFPs, RFIs, RFQs, BOQs, technical specifications, and vendor proposals.
• Support technology refresh, storage modernization, and data migration initiatives with minimal business disruption.
• Optimize storage utilization, performance, automation, and lifecycle management processes.
• Collaborate effectively with server, virtualization, network, cybersecurity, database, backup, and application teams.
• Perform Proof of Concepts (PoCs) and recommend new technologies and industry best practices.
• Provide technical governance throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring adherence to enterprise architecture standards.
• Support root cause analysis for complex storage issues and define preventive improvements.

Required Experience and Technical Expertise

Candidates should possess 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in designing and managing enterprise storage solutions. Demonstrated expertise with Dell PowerMax, PowerStore, Unity XT, ECS, and NetApp AFF, FAS, and ONTAP platforms is essential. A strong understanding of various storage architectures, including SAN, NAS, Object Storage, Fibre Channel, NVMe, iSCSI, and IP, is required. Experience with storage solutions for virtualized and cloud environments, along with high availability and disaster recovery implementations, is also critical.

Collaboration and Project Governance

This role demands strong collaborative skills to work effectively with cross-functional technical teams. The Storage Design Engineer will play a key role in providing technical governance, ensuring that all storage solutions align with enterprise architecture standards throughout the project lifecycle. Furthermore, the ability to contribute to root cause analysis for complex storage issues and propose effective preventive measures is expected.
