Sustainability Consultant

About the Role

GREENER by IHCC is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Sustainability Consultant to join its Sustainability team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves leading and managing sustainability certification projects across Saudi Arabia and the MENA region, focusing on high-performance green building solutions.

Role Overview

The Sustainability Consultant will manage certification projects from the design phase through construction and final certification. This includes coordinating multidisciplinary teams and providing strategic sustainability guidance to various stakeholders such as clients, developers, consultants, contractors, and suppliers. The role emphasizes expertise in frameworks like LEED, Mostadam, and WELL.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage sustainability certification projects, including LEED (BD+C, ID+C, O+M, and Communities), Mostadam, WELL, TRUE, and other green building frameworks.
• Develop certification strategies and project roadmaps to achieve targeted certification levels.
• Conduct sustainability gap assessments, feasibility studies, and LEED readiness evaluations.
• Review architectural, mechanical, electrical, and site-related drawings for sustainability compliance.
• Prepare, manage, and submit LEED documentation through LEED Online and other certification platforms.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and project teams to collect and review sustainability documentation.
• Support procurement teams in evaluating sustainable materials, Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), recycled content, low-emitting materials, and other LEED-compliant products.
• Monitor sustainability implementation during construction and prepare monthly sustainability progress reports.
• Prepare technical reports, narratives, calculations, and supporting documentation for certification submissions.
• Coordinate responses to certification review comments and ensure timely project certification.
• Support assessments and implementation of additional sustainability programs, including WELL, Mostadam, TRUE, Parksmart, SmartScore, and related frameworks.
• Apply knowledge of ASHRAE Standards *, 55, *, and 100, and support LEED commissioning-related activities.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 8–10 years of experience in sustainability and green building consultancy.
• Proven experience leading and managing at least three LEED-certified projects and two Mostadam projects, including the preparation of design- and construction-phase certification documentation.
• Strong understanding of sustainable design principles, green building standards, and sustainability certification processes.
• Strong knowledge of LEED requirements, ASHRAE standards, and commissioning-related activities.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and AutoCAD.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including professional technical report writing and email correspondence.
• Strong project management, coordination, and client communication skills.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, within a dedicated Sustainability team focused on delivering green building solutions across the MENA region.
