Technical Director

About the Role

Bonafide is seeking a Technical Director to join their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This is a contract position requiring over 10 years of experience. The Technical Director will be responsible for the technical design and delivery of event systems, ensuring all systems are correctly designed, safely installed, integrated, tested, and reliably operated throughout event days.

Role Purpose

The primary purpose of this role is to oversee the technical aspects of event systems, including power distribution, arena and site lighting, sound and PA, screens, show control, and broadcast interfaces. The Technical Director ensures the integrity and operational reliability of all technical systems for events.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce technical design bases, system schematics, and power strategies for all event zones.
• Coordinate power loads and cable routes with generator positions.
• Review technical submissions and drawings from suppliers.
• Supervise the installation of lighting towers, LED screens, sound, and show systems.
• Integrate show control, communications, and timing and scoring interfaces.
• Coordinate the broadcast compound and camera positions with the host broadcaster.
• Lead technical commissioning, load tests, lux tests, and technical rehearsals.
• Manage technical operations on event days with supplier crews and oversee fault response.
• Reconfigure systems for event changeovers and subsequent events.
• Ensure electrical and rigging works comply with safety standards and are certified.
• Maintain up-to-date technical drawings, test records, and operating manuals.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in a relevant technical director or similar role.
• Demonstrated expertise in event systems, including power, lighting, sound, screens, and control systems.
• Proven ability to manage technical design, installation, testing, and operation.
