About the Role

WSP in the Middle East is seeking an experienced Project Director for a full-time, senior leadership role within its Property & Buildings business. This position is based in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, with potential involvement in Neom. The role focuses on leading the delivery of a major construction supervision project in a remote location, requiring extensive experience in managing large-scale, complex projects in challenging environments.

Role Context and Objectives

The Project Director will oversee site-based project execution, ensuring delivery aligns with client objectives, program, budget, and quality standards. This senior role acts as the client's trusted advisor on site, providing strategic oversight and leadership throughout the construction and handover phases. The position demands strong leadership and stakeholder management capabilities to navigate complex project demands.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and direction for site-based project delivery, ensuring alignment with client objectives, schedule, budget, and quality requirements.
• Act as the primary point of accountability for project execution, performance, and delivery outcomes on site.
• Lead the construction supervision phase, ensuring effective coordination between contractors, consultants, and stakeholders.
• Oversee all site operations, ensuring works are executed in accordance with approved designs, specifications, and standards.
• Manage and resolve interface issues across disciplines, ensuring fully coordinated delivery.
• Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation and recovery plans.
• Maintain oversight of project costs, variations, and change control processes.
• Ensure adherence to project programme, including schedule monitoring and reporting.
• Serve as the senior client interface on site, providing clear, timely, and accurate reporting.
• Engage with local authorities, stakeholders, and third parties as required to support project delivery.
• Lead commercial discussions, negotiations, and issue resolution at a senior level.
• Ensure full compliance with local regulations, codes, and authority requirements.
• Champion health, safety, quality, and environmental standards across all site activities.
• Lead, mentor, and manage the project team on site, fostering a high-performance and collaborative culture.
• Oversee resource planning, team performance, and succession planning throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in delivering large-scale construction projects.
• Proven experience in a Project Director or senior leadership role delivering construction supervision projects.
• Strong background in construction supervision, particularly on remote or challenging sites.
• Demonstrated experience managing complex, multi-disciplinary projects from construction through to handover.
• Extensive experience working on high-value or landmark developments.
• Strong commercial, contractual, and programme management expertise.
• Proven ability to work effectively in remote site environments.
• Experience in Saudi Arabia or the wider Middle East is highly preferred.
